I ordered a Hyperboost adjustable bypass valve to replace my Bosch unit that's been honking a lot. I know how to adjust it, that's not my question. I'm wondered how I want to set? Do I want more spring tension or less? What are the adavantages and disadvantages, etc. This is my first attempt to actually tune anything about my car and I want to do it right. Thanks for any help.

IIRC, more spring pressure holds boost better but leads to compressor surge, while less spring pressure bleeds off boost a little but gets rid of compressor surge.
I'll see what i can dig up.

You have to adjust it as you drive. Leave it at the level where it doesnt surge, but holds the boost.

You also have to ask yourself "How much boost will I be running consitently". The more boost you run the more pressure you are going to need.

Read the vacuum on your boost gauge. Hook up a vacuum gun to the BOV and adjust it so that it opens at around the same vacuum on your boost gauge.
Then....
Install it in your car.
Do a pressure test of your system just to make sure it can hold boost without leaking.
If you make it too tight it will never open and you will get compressor surge. If you make it too loose then you will be loosing boost cause it will leak.
