Mid Night Run

my buddy and i thought how fun it would be to have a mid night run through manhattan. maybe start on the turnpike and ride up thru the lincoln down the west side and come out the holland and end somewhere back in jersey. u know traffic is a bitch in nyc so the ideal time to do it would be in the early hours of the day. thinkin 12 or 1a something along those lines. lookin for some suggestions, ideas, participants. already have 3 people/ 3 cars down for the ride. what do u think?

a bunch of us miata owners have done it, 30miatas cruising through NY down broadway in times square...so many tourists asking what type of cars and taking pictures lol was cool

cb's or everyone haivng good walkie talkies help, and have a place to meet up for food after so if people get separated they can just go to the last destination. and meet up, bring lots of cameras so passengers can jump out at stop lights and take pics of the HUUGGE train.

ALSO if you get somehow get decals for everyone to put in the same corner of the window(passenger side) top so when people see the cars they realize we are all together and the pics will show everyones organization skills lol

im lovin the enthusiasm here. ive posted same thread on 2 other forums and just got alot of negative vibe. i like the pic idea. i like the decal idea. i also agree on the meet place start and stop. maybe finish up at a diner somewhere. some eggs and toast at the finish line. as long as u arrive to the meet place on time anyone can go. maybe it should be broken down into groups and each group can keep track of themselves. <depending on how many people show> me and my 2 friends have nextel. we can link with anyone else who has it. maybe we should start getting a head count to see what we'll need to do. 8 is alot different then 30.

Your ideal time will be in the cooler months, later at night, and on a off night.

Yea I would recommend against a friday night if you plan on going through any of the places like times square and such. It'll be near impossible to navigate a large caravan through there...

i never said that there would be "no" traffic. i think there will be alot less traffic at night than there will be during the day. there is going to be traffic and i think that that adds to the ride. u can blow thru times square in 2 minutes without traffic. no fun in that. i have a few requests for later in the year, but also some for soon. this will be a starter run. to jump the summer off and see how it works out. im sure people will give feed back and see what we can do to improve. cant satisfy everyone ya know. ty for the input.

anyways.. it was a lot of fun, on the way up i got harassed by a cop on the NJ turnpike, shinned the light threw my tint all around my car for like 2 miles, then followed me, then let off for some reason... i was amazed i didn't get pulled over

then run was great though... i thought it was an awesome idea, i wished more people came, but maybe more next time since we did it and it turned out great.

Im sure there will be another wldchld Midnight Run. Even with 5 cars it was a good time. Maybe shoot for mid summer. Maybe a longer route around the city.
