So, I have a few bucks to spend on the car and I'm not sure which I want to get. Basically the only 2 things I'm looking at right now are either a header/downpipe/test pipe, or a short shifter. Both could use replacing.
Header would be much more of a b-otch to install. I was thinking of replacing it though because for one, I have a broken off rear o2 sensor, and two, cuz it would good? lol.
But on the other hand, I have the stock shifter in there now and the bushings are just...gone. It feels like its in neutral when its in gear its so bad lol. I think doin a new shifter and all the bushings and what not would be beneficial more so then the header, but I am still undecided. Any idears?

You rockin a KA or a swap? I'd def rather have a header/downpipe rather than a short shifter if it is a boosted motor.
If your still rockin a KA and plan to swap the motor out...no sense dropping money into the motor.

yea its a stock motor. I think I'm gonna go for the shifter. I "plan" on swapping it, just not for a while. Your right tagteam, no reason to dump money into a useless mod. I dont know why I was even thinking about doing that.

i say fix what needs to be fixed then worry about mods.

Also a very good point lol. For the most part, I only need to get 2 more sensors and then as far as I know for now that will take care of everything.

x3 ^ also we all know how obnoxiously stupid loud a KA is, and getting a header on it is just going to make it even louder.

I would go with the header and test pipe, but that's only cause I rocked that setup on my first 240 and loved how loud and deep it sounded.. but that shifter problem would drive me nuts

I was going to say the header/test pipe, but the shifter is going to help out more. Not to mention since you are going to swap eventually anyway it's the better choice.
Shifter bushings only cost a few dollars. When I did it on my Z they were like $3 each. So I say do the bushings AND the exhaust.

Just save your money for meaningful mods. You aren't going to get much out of headers and a short throw is pointless.

Niether. Save. Only spend on emergencies till you have enough for "big" things. I know its super hard but it pays off in the end.

SO....I decided to go with a new shifter. I found out I can get a lot of parts really cheap through our suppliers at work. I got what is pretty much equivalent of an ebay shifter. However, I ended up getting it for...get this...$21! Was easy and hell to install, and cleaned up the slop 100%. The little bushing on the end of the stock shifter was just demolished. Got this one in and the shifts are obviously a lot shorter, but they are also nice and crisp. I love it! Also, there doesn't really seem to be any issues with vibration with the solid shifter. All in all, so far, I'd say it was a great investment. I did however try to leave my driveway in 3rd gear by accidnt hahaha
