this game, as usual, is upping the ante on video games. The stuff they packed into this game appears in other games... but not to the degree, nor to the enormity... you get bits and pieces in different games...

rockstar is really leagues ahead of the competition...

Picked up my copy this morning at 8:04 AM!

Wasn't going to buy it at all, but I found a gift card for $25 from Target in my walllet that I had forgotten about over the last two years, so I got the game for only $40 cash out of pocket! :D

isn't the camera view the same as San Andreas? i didn't notice a difference. the only thing i'm getting pissed off about is the bikes in GTA IV ride like they are on ice. When i had to play the "No Love Lost" mission i had to get replaying it b/c i kept losing control.

i have a tough time driving, i kind of like it though because it feels realistic. you cant just cut the wheel and the whole car slides out. people may not like the driving/view but i think its very good. you cant see every angle in one view.. actually have to look around :)

I'm at like 10% and been playing for 3-4 hours. I'm tempted to go on multiplayer, but I don't want to get sidetracked, I actually want to play the game. I'm going to the flyers game, so maybe I'll check out free mode when I get home from that, or COD4 online...

controls are a bit rough to get used to, but after an hour or so it was pretty smooth. Driving the cars is the hardest bit since they drive so much more loosely than they did before. And just like real cars, you can't nail the brakes and turn... you just keep going straight. And hitting the ebrake almost always puts you in the opposite direction. You really need to go easier on the gas in missions so you don't run into everything.

I was starting to get motion sickness driving around drunk... but it was awesome that the cops pretty much went right after you if you hit anything in front of them.

Yeah the cops seem to get you for anything. I remember hitting cars right in front of them and getting away.
I haven't tried it yet but can a pay n spray only reduce your stars only if they don't see you go in?

I run red lights and hit other cars w/o the cops coming after me. they'll usually blip their siren.

true about the pay n spray. its easier to run way if you have 1-2 stars. It gets tougher as the levels go up though...

lol, I picked one up and went around a corner into an alley right where I picked her up... and BOOM... my car exploded...

I think I hit a flaming garbage can... but it was instant explosion, like a bomb went off. moral of the story, prostitutes blow your car up :lol:

I'm really digging all the real small details in this game... like suspension noises from the beat up, and muscles, cars. The blood splatters on the inside of the windshield when you shoot people, multiple times. blood on the vehicle when running people down.

the dents in the car that form to somethings in the environment. IE: I hit a pole in an suv and there was a rounded dent where I hit. The gun shot holes in vehicles.

One gripe I had is the shooting from a vehicle aiming... I want to aim then fire, not press the button and start shooting while trying to aim.

dude, I think sometimes he does. Cause there have been times where I crashed going very fast head on and he didn't go flying through the windshield, but then there were times he did and I wasn't going as fast.

The most hilarious part of this game is now jumping out of a moving vehicle...

the first time I did it by accident, right as a truck was driving in the other lane towards me. I hit the button at the perfect time and he jumped out right into the grill of the truck. :lol:

yup and in any of the clunkers you find parked around the city, i also found a sprinter trueno/levin today while goofing off, its awesome on the side where it would usually say twin camit says NA 20 VALVE RWD. i loooove that someone on the team is def a hardcore car guy

man i was playing it today and i got on a motorcycle and i have roman on the back and i hit a bump on the road and roman FLEW off i was cracking up! i failed the mission because of it but i was in tears when he flew off! i am talking like i wish i had something to record it! its so much fun i like the mini games you have to do with roman and with the girl friend! now here is the question for the PS3 guys! is anyone having a hard time playing it online?? i can't get mine online no matter what. i try over and over again and nothing!

got it today, great game I think. not worth a perfect 10 like a lot of sites say, but pretty damn good..then again i only played for like 2 hours. i like the storyline, the graphics are much much better, driving is more realistic (and more annoying because of it) just feels like a much better game. camera angles are kinda annoying, and the minimap is so small i can barely ever see anything. wonder how big the map is I havent really gotten far yet

heh the mission where dimitri ****s you over i was in the warehouse and there were cops everywhere outside and i had maybe one hit of health left so i took cover at the door and put about three clips from my micro smg into the nearest cop car to blow it up and clear myself a path. worked great!

I haven't played it yet but I watched my brother play tonight and the first thing he did was punch someone down stairs. When he was fighting the guy I was like can you hit him down the stairs and he did it. I was amazed at the first thing I saw.

I think the driving physics are a little bit too extreme from what I saw. The body roll is redic!

Another thing I hate is when I try to sneak over to the other islands too early in every game the cops come to kill you.

Yeah I have played about 8 hours total and half was getting used to the controls, trying to swim to the other islands, and robbing people on the street. I have yet to find one of the pigeon rats or whatever they are called.

I almost beat it first try and then i hit a barrel or something in an alley and blew up, then I couldnt find my way out of the building when the cops came, then the game froze. ah, that one was tough. I played it a few times and went on to do other missions for the time being... unlocked a few new weapons from playing the game so I'll go back soon

use cover and bring tons of ammo lol. it really isn't that tough if you remember to:

A) make sure you have armor and health 100%
B) use cover! The AI in this game is way better than what it was in the previous games...
C) use the AI against itself. If you fire using just the right trigger real quick the enemy will sometimes pop out fully to shoot at you thinking you're exposed, this is when you target them using the left trigger then popping out for a burst then back in.

I got to the helicopter, but my granade throw isn't the same from COD4. In COD4 I could hit someone in the head with a grenade, but in GTA4 I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. I should practice more on the public.

I'll nail out snow storm tonight. I've got all the other missions done up to that that were available to me. I can get through the thugs easy enough w/o getting hit by more than one lucky shot (sniper rifle and assault rifle ftw)

the n.o.o.s.e. people go down easy with the assault rifle... i would have been through the mission if it wasn't for the grenade I tossed landing a foot away.

I shot three of the cops and grabbed the pickup truck waiting outside of the hospital. I also made sure I cleared out the hospital before the cops came. I also found one of the pigeons on a window facing the water of the hospital. Blew it away with the sniper rifle. Never have I seen feathers fly so far. :lol:

yeah, I def killed everyone in the hospital. It helps when they line up so nicely... I must've nailed 5-6 noose agents. I think there is a finite number of them, but the cops will keep showing up. I'm gonna give it another shot after happy hour tonight.

yeah I have the Sultan RS (turbo is300/legacy gt) parked at every one of my safe houses too. it's definitely a cool car and it's the quickest of all the cars too. I was racing people online and it beats everything including the nrg-900 bike.

My god is that **** fun. I just played a non ranked free roam. It is so ****ing funny. Just people flying around in cars and hitting each other. Cops chase you and ****, there are pedestrians and cars. It's great. The military helicopters are sick. I suggest we all get one one time, 16 to a room.

We turned our boss into a heli pilot idling a mile straight up and transporting us on demand.
We turned what is typically a 1.5 minute escape into a half hour cop killing deathmatch.
Lloyd and I had 25 kills each in a game mode where you rarely get 3.

We were laughing so hard it hurt.

We dragged a few unfortunate souls through a 1 hour boss match after midnight last night.
Our BOSS had 17 kills. Lloyd and I both had 35+ kills each. We make over $10,000 from a single C&C match.

The best past was that the second round, when we were the cops, went down in under 3 minutes.
