View Full Version : Done college & NEED A JOB!!!

I had several job offers in the Fall and Spring, and finally decided to work with Nissan as a Regional Specialist.
Nissan is now forcing me to relocate to Illinois, so I am declining their offer.
This was a last minute change and screwed me pretty bad. I contacted all of the companies who previously offered me jobs and none of them have available positions anymore!! :furious:
I am graduating from PSU next week with a BS Management/Administration degree, and a minor in Real Estate. I have a 3.5 gpa and experience with 6 sigma, supply chain management, MIS, human resource/employee relations, and strategic business analysis. I also completed two internships for marketing companies within the last two years, and have a lot of experience in minimum wage type jobs (Retirement Home, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Sloan Ford, D'Ambrosio, Vector Marketing, GE, IBEW Apprentice). Also, if any shops need help I am fairly experienced with anything that has a motor; dirt bikes, street bikes, cars.... lawnmowers, whatever.
I'm really just looking for any sort of job that has benefits and a liveable salary. I would prefer to work within driving distance of Coatesville, Pa 19320.. although I can relocate if the salary is significant enough to cover the costs.
I'll keep this fairly vague because I do not like disclosing all of my information online, although I can email my resume, cover letter, referrences, and transcript to anyone.

Should have just relocated, their are a lot worse things in the world then going somewhere new.

I would have if it was somewhere other than Illinois..
there is nothing out there at all, and I'm still in debt from school so getting a place would be hard right now.

as a fellow BA grad, you shouldnt have a problem finding a job with that degree, ESPECIALLY with 6 sigma experience.
If you want a career in the field, and not just a "job"..i suggest searching jobs at the following:
Rohm and Haas
Crown Holdings
Aramark
Lockheed Martin
Ametek
BDP International
...the list goes on.

Doesn't hurt to join a site like linkedin to do some networking http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49904&highlight=linkedin

I have worked for both BDP International and Rohm and Haas in the past 6 years. All my experience thus far has been in supply chain/logistics....my employment of choice would be lockheed Martin and I'm still working on getting in there.
However, for any Business Admin/Mgt grad you can go in so many directions. Depends on what field you're in. You're experience seems pretty diverse. There are DOZENS of fortune 500 companies within this area (companies that you start entry-level, progress, promote and retire at..not just "jobs"...more CAREERS). Look them up, search job openings and see what tickles your fancy.

35k plus benefits is great for a college grad. I'm out of college since 2002, so i worked my my paygrade up since then. lol

I really have nothing useful to add in this thread, other then checking Monster.com. I do not think that my employer now is looking for people in that dept.
I just remember learning about Six Sigma in one of my college courses senior year, and I felt the need to strangle myself.

^^when i was graduating 6 sigma wasn't real big yet. NOW, it benefits any Business grad to have knowledge or experience with it. It's a great resume booster.

I'm basically in the same boat as you - graduating in a few weeks with a BBA in Finance from Temple University and don't have a solid offer yet. The ones I had (financial services institutions) were withdrawn due to poor industry performance and cutbacks in recruitment.
Not the best environment to be entering right now...hope we ALL find something!!!
