Ok i have been riding for 9 years now, and all of my bikes i have ever owned have all been Hydro Clutches. I am starting to do my homework on looking for a new bike and i have noticed that all of them are now cable clutch setup. I have never had a cable clutch but i have ridden one before but his clutch was jacked up and he knew it. So i wanted to know what kind of maintenance does it need? Does it really cause early clutch damage? One person told me that but i can't see that being the case! Do you have to lube it or anything like that? Let me know i never owned one like that before!

I've never had any problems with cable clutches. I personally like the feel of them better then hydrualic units, but they can be a little heavier to pull depending on the clutch. If they are adjusted correctly, there is no reason they would wear anything prematurely. If you constantly leave your bike outside, you may want to lube the cable occasionaly, but its normaly not neccesary.
