No mare-coor here, but thats great that you're keeping one on the road. Most have become nothing more than junkyard turbo resources. Have any pics? How has the reliability been?

I know a guy who has a bad ass sierra 500, basically a merkur but Euro spec, all decked out and it holds some land speed record..The thing is so insane I would trade my evo, bike, and everything else I have for it.

I was just about to buy one a few weeks ago as a daily driver but decided against in cause of some unexpected things. The next day a white one drove down my dead end street. Almost made me go and buy the one to daily anyway. I have always liked the car just never see any on the road. Get some info up about yours.

i bought an 87 xr4ti a while back for $100. I drove it for about 2 years and abused it pretty hard. Not the fastest, or best handling, or best riding or.. well you get the idea. But it sure did turn peoples heads. I guess im contributing to the demise of these things because i scrapped it not that long ago. No one wanted it and even if they did, it was worth more in scrap then as a running car.

sure got plenty of pictures.... cant tell you much about how good they are because the one I got had a messed up motor.. it will be on the road by the end of the month... basically saved it from being scrapped...

I miss my laser... plush leather seats, digital dash... mine looked exactly like that except it was silver. 2 weeks after I sold that I bought an 85 glh (non turbo) should have kept that car, but needed to pay rent... should never have done that

Saw 2 different ones the other day, i was shocked. One silver earlier model with scooped hood and rear wing and a last year model that was white. Really liked the white one, i was tempted to try and talk to the guy about maybe selling but I couldn't meet up with him.

The silver one was on Street Road near bustleton ave around North East philadelphia.

I really want to get an XR4Ti as a SCCA solo racer someday. Plenty of power out of that engine for not that much, RWD platform, strong racing history in europe, possible Cosworth upgrades, what more can you ask for?

my boys got one for sale built motor needs a head gasket and a turbo and your good to go. the custom intake mani. is worth more then the asking price its got some cosworth stuff and also built suspension and a mint interior

Nothing wrong with an auto: no lag between shifts and more consistent 1/4s. :mrgreen:

Like alot of the other guys, this car is on my "wish list" because of the Escort Cozzy. Love the whale tail!

I have almost gotten one of these so many times. One of my buddies put a motor into a 79 Capri with an hx 35 turbo and mega squirt and it's a pretty fun car. One of the brothers at lorenzos fast flow machine shop is ready to put a fully built 2.3 into a turbo coupe. He is running a t67 billet wheel turbo and is expecting to make almost 700 Hp. Let me know if you ever want to meet them to get some advice or tips.
