Hey this is rfoy91tsi's girlfriend. My truck died and I have no idea why. Ralph is a subaru guy and cant fix it. Please help me get it runing again. Its a 91 f150 6cly 4 spd with o/d sounds like crap almost like it is missing and when i start it the idle drops to were it almost stalls than jumps back up again. it has new spark plug wires, spark plugs, distrabotor cap, and rotor.

Check the ignition module. They are known for failing. Should be mounted on the side of the distributor.
Is the truck running? Do you see black smoke out of the exhaust? Any weird noises?
If it is running, it sounds like a sensor is bad, 91 should be MAF. Start checking sensor connectors, vacuum lines.
Keep me posted, or IM me...

No smoke
Sounds like it's missing
when you rev it the RPM will drop then pick up and sound like it's missing as it revs.

Yeah defintely sounds like a sensor problem. Check the sensor on the intake first.

Did you just replace the plugs, wires..... and then the problem started? Check to make sure all of the wires are in the proper firing order and that all of the plugs were gapped properly. I know its sounds obvious but double checking doesn't hurt.

She ran the Truck out of oil.
Then
I relaced the CAP and rotor
she replaced the oil&filter
We did plugs and wires
Truck runs fine after it warms up(we never kept it on long enough to know this until today)
It's hard to start and sometimes stalls right after starting.

Do a compression check, and look for bubbles in the coolant reservoir. Is there any smoke? If so, what color.

I have no idea what the plug gap is sopposed to be, The truck was painted awhile ago and they took the sticker off that says it so, we guessed and it still runs rough in first gear.
