i have heard that you can do this without having to do any mayjor ajustments, well except for putting in a clutch; i baught an automatic wich i regret cause i hate driving auto, so eventually down the road i want to switch the trans out to manual to have more fun, has anyone done this before or know anyone who has, and what am i looking at, any tips or pointers would be most appreciated.

You definately heard wrong. I've already inquired about this at various shops.... you'd be better off just selling and buying a manual...

Manual is more fun but that Auto will last you a hell of a lot longer, for the aggrivation that comes with switching it you should just stick with what you have and be happy to know that you won't have to worry about choosing between stock, sti or ppg lol.

It's really a big overhaul, you have to buy all parts etc etc etc
sell it, get an STi, move on with life

well if it was a honda i would say go for it. But i don't know anything really about REX's. For a honda it would cost anywhere between 250-1000. Thats doing it urself of course.

If by "rex" I hope you mean WRX, because thats what I'm going on. But it really is a pain in the neck and you're better off selling it and getting a newer STi. If nothing else try and improve your credit score in the process.

Thats what I thought but I wasn't sure. I've heard people say "rex" and mean CR-X, WRX, RX-7, RX-8. It gets confusing after a while.

Well since the first post was about converting a wrx from auto to manual did you have a lot of trouble figuring out which of those "Rex" might refer to in this case?

Pat, remember when i wanted to do this with my SVX? Trade it for a manual. Or find that SVX guy who does all the swaps over on SVX.org and see if he can work your WRX. His name's Tom and he's somewhere in philly.
