Wow....what a tool.

who? the srt-4 owner?

I fail to see how he's a tool... a fully built srt-4 motor capable of revving to 8k... and a race clutch that had an unknown flaw that broke apart...

more like mechanical failure than the owner being a tool...

It looks more like the flywheel gave out...Not the clutch

Pretty cool though, This guys should think about a scatter sheild in the future.

so was it a defect in the clutch that caused the explosion? or can that particular clutch type not handle 8k? bc it looks aftermarket and quite heavy duty so i dont see the rpob of it goin to 8k....

makes me proud of my oem clutch....its see 11k like 14 times

my teg can rev to 8k no problem....domestics ftl

this has nothing to do with domestics vs imports...

could have possibly been a botched install, I've seen people use incorrect fasteners for flywheel/pressure plate resulting in an explosion like that. they may have also not tightened a bolt the whole way. its pretty unlikely that it was a faulty clutch, they usually have very strict manufacturing standards because a failure like this can kill you.. but anythings possible

He's a tool for not already having the scatter shield...Once you get into that kind of work..built motor huge turbo and heavy duty clutch it should just be required.

I am suprised that a DCR clutch would do that- it's not a cheap clutch and it's pretty popular since it's known for reliability. You never know what exactly it could be from, but, good thing the flywheel held on there- or else there would have been a wheel chair in one of the pictures. DCR is taking care of everything, which is great IMO, still scary ****!

the SRTs are KNOWN for that happening. that happened to my last SRT. clutch went, blew the trans into peices, took out the intake and put a nice dent inthe hood. thank god it didnt go through the hood or shoot towards the windshield. they do that because of the way the bolt up to the engine. they are backwards then traditionally done.

From what I can understand in that thread, the car was actually at DCR getting built when it happened. But i bet he buys a scattershield now!
