Many of you have been asking what we have been up to since we moved. Well the shop is going great and we are super busy with a bunch of new customers and shops local to the area. We are now ceramic coating in addition to our powder coating services for all you guys who need those high temp coatings. Below I have included a few pics of some items we have done recently. Some I found in my computer from the shop in Morrisville but most are from the new shop. Hope you like them. I will try to keep up with taking new pics weekly to add to this thread so you guys know what we have been working on. Most products come in and out of here so quick I don't have a chance to take a pic, but here you go.

If anyone needs any coating work done feel free to stop by our shop.

Thanks. That was a model from Street Trenz magazine when they came up to do a shop story. That is a proof the editor sent me for a calender poster. We are getting about 100 in the next 2 weeks or so if you want one. Just send me your address.

Nothing beats that rear!

So you can do like catbacks and downpipes? Like an aluminized A'pexi N1 turboback? It's got minor rust in spots.

As of right now I am still working in my smaller set up so a full turbo back wouldn't fit in the oven I am using. I would need to know the length of it. I am hoping to get the new oven in shortly. These damn things are expensive. I could have bought a new G35 coupe for the price of an oven. Should be very shortly though.

Which valve cover did you have here? I have about 20 of them waiting to be done here. Sorry I haven't been on TST for a while but I had some free time between jobs here so I decided to post some pics.

Yes. But you can only choose from the High Temp Powder colors that can withstand temperatures up to 1000*. Found here: http://www.boneheadperformance.com/powdercoating/standardcolors.htm#htemp

Try clearing out your cookies and open a new browser. We just switched servers so you may be redirected to our old browser if you don't clear your cookies. That should work for you. As for the powder coating a muffler it can be done in regular powder provided you don't have a rear engine car. By the time the exhaust travels and heats up the muffler it is not above 400 degrees. For headers/manifolds/turbo housings we have been doing ceramic coating...which isn't listed on our web site yet. It is much more durable and the benefits are much greater with ceramic over the high temp powder coat.

I believe I posted a picture on page 1 of a rear exhaust section and muffler for an Evo track car that I did in mirror black. The customer said it held up fine during and after his rally coarse run and to this day is still holding up perfect.

I have something close but not dead on. They are two different types of processes so it will never be 100% dead on. The top of the BOV is anodized. Feel free to stop by the shop and take a look at the colors we offer in our showroom.

Technically you can mix powder to create a custom color but it gets very expensive to do so. I can do different color wheels but you would need to pick a color I already stock unless you wanted to go with a custom color match which just to mix the powder is a few hundred.

Technically you can mix powder to create a custom color but it gets very expensive to do so. I can do different color wheels but you would need to pick a color I already stock unless you wanted to go with a custom color match which just to mix the powder is a few hundred.

Price doesn't matter to me. Get me a quote for it and i'll bring the wheels and cash down.

I need a sample of the color to send in to them. I had a custom color made for a previous customer and it costs minimum of $450 just to mix and create the one off custom powder and then 5lb minimum to purchase...which is usually about $20-$25 per pound for standard colors and may go higher depending on the type of powder. The entire job will cost close to if not over $1000. I can look into it more if you are definetely interested but I know I need a sample to send in.

How close to real chrome or polished does that super chrome or reflective chrome powdercoat look? I was planning to polish a bunch of stuff in the Supra's engine bay, but it'd be a hell of a lot easier to just powdercoat it, haha... I'm not sure what direction I'm going to go yet but I know its got to look badass when I'm done though.
Also, not sure if it was asked before but can you powdercoat STi Brembos without taking them apart or do you have to split the caliper halves? I'm thinking metallic silver on them, or maybe some sort of black chrome...

It is very reflective. Bad picture but you can tell on some angles of the picture it gives off a mirror image. This color you have to see in person.

I'm sure its not as nice looking as most polished things go but I'm sure its damn close.

For the chrome powder coat...you cannot compare it to a chrome plating. The powder is more of a bright shiny silver look but is the most reflective powder on the market right now.. Most people see pics of items coated in chrome that looks like actual chrome but many do not realize that the chrome powder needs to have a clear top coat for durability which dulls the finish a bit. There is a single stage chrome out on the market today and is brighter than the reflective chrome w/ clear but it is not as durable as the chrome w/ clear.

As for the calipers, yes they need to be taken apart. If items are coated together you really wouldn't be able to take them apart or split them without cracking the coating. I do calipers all the time here so if your interested stop on up and check out the new shop Bryan.

You are correct. I have seen hack polishing jobs with a haze and I have seen perfect polish jobs that are more reflective than actual chrome plating. It all depends on the part but for ease of use...the chrome powder coat is the way to go if you want low maintenance. You won't have to repolish over time, like you would with a polished piece.

We are building a walk in powder spray booth right now. Once that is set up we will have no problems doing large items such as cages or roll bars. After this is built... in comes our larger oven. I am hoping no longer than 2 months until we are set up with the larger oven. It takes 4-5 weeks to build and ship from the time we order. I have included a few pics of the booth we are in the process of building. Can't wait to use this puppy.

Dormant red is a sweet color. Yes the gaskets must be removed in order for the coating. Anything plastic, rubber, bearings, seals etc must be removed prior to coating.

Hey Bryan,
Depending on the color I can apply it thick but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be super smooth. Blasting it doesn't really smooth out textured surfaces. It actually creates a slight textured surface so the powder coat has something to bond to. If you want a super smooth finish your best bet would be to sand down as much as you can to create it smooth then I can apply it a bit thicker than normal to smooth the rest out. With cast it gets very tricky to create a smooth profile. The shinier the color you go with the more you will see if the piece to be coated has imperfections. Flat and wrinkle textures hide imperfections whereas shiny, metallic or bright colors reflect imperfections in the metal.

Ill give you a ring when I get my parts box and then bring it down cause im a bit lost on what colors I want to go with, the intake and bov stuff is all polished and chrome and ive got a crinkle red/silver/black theme under the hood stock so I want to keep it that way, do you guys have those colors available?

Also, can manual boost controllers be powdercoated, as well as the threads on them?

mmm, mirror black is looking good. i'm gonna have to check that out in person vs. any type of black chrome type of colors you might have.

also, the ceramic coatings you do are on par with something like jet hot or other places that do thermal coating? i need a couple things coated but not for looks, its for the thermal insulation. if you say you're on par with them then i'll bring my stuff to you this time around...

Yes we have those colors and all are on display in our showroom. You can take the sample outside to check it out in the sun also if you want. Unfortunately the boost contollers cannot be coated due to the valves inside them. If you took them apart we could do it for you. Feel free to call or stop by any time.

Yes the mirror black looks sweet on the STi wheels. Thermal coating is the same as the ceramic. Some people call it thermal because it acts as a thermal barrier for heat. Jet-Hot is a company who ceramic coats. Most people say Jet-Hot because they are the most well known company that does it. Yes its the same thing...Jet-Hot, ceramic, thermal...all different words but mean the same thing.

haha yeah thats him. That thing is going to be so loud once installed. There was a guy that came in our last shop with one of those in his truck (about half the size) and that thing was insanely loud. As for the 17" wheels they are $65 each for a single color. This includes all prep work and coating. Let me know if you are interested.

Yes there are ways to do it underneath to give a deep flake look or a flake clear on top for added protection and "glittery" gloss. We can basically mix n match colors to make your specific color. Feel free to stop by the shop and I can go over some color options for you.

Chromex (must be polished afterwards)
Matte Black

Cast Iron
Titanium Silver
Bright Silver

I think I'm probably going to go with Matte Black, or possibly Chromex for my header and turbo's exhaust housing.

Yes please see the link that Bryan Troll provided- http://boneheadperformance.com/services/ceramic.htm

We have done many turbo housings lately and all have held up just fine. Ceramic is good up to 200 degrees depending on the color.

I wanted to post up a pic of some ceramic coating that Bonehead did for my father-in-laws latest tractor restoration. Once again, Chuck did some top notch work.

1955 Minneapolis Moline model 335, running and almost complete.

I'll get some before and after pics in the gallery when it is complete. It was really REALLY rough before all of this.

Chuck also coated most of the black parts on the tractor, like the throttle and starter linkage, footrests, and some other misc. stuff.

Thanks Chuck! Frank is totally pleased with the work.

We haven't really posted on here for a few months so here are a few pics we have taken. If there is a speciality color you need to see or inquire about let us know. Our showroom of stocking colors seem to grow ever month.
