im sure someone on here can give me a decent answer given the way most of you drive. last summer some dickhead made a left hand turn in front of me. i was doing about 40. i swerved to try to make it into the driveway he was turning into. i completely missed him but i hit the curb pretty hard and took out a pole. now even though it wasnt "technically" my fault, the other guy took off and so it was basically just me involved. it wasnt too bad. i wiped out the hood, bumper, lower control arm and bent my rim. the grand total was about $5k parts and labor. i put it through my insurance, even though i could have easily fixed it for under a grand myself, because my insurance agent told me that it wouldnt count against me. my policy renewed in september and nothing changed.

now here we are in march. i got my policy renewal in the mail the other day and i jumped about $1200 a year!!! so now im pissed. i called allstate, and the agent no longer works for them. and they said that i should never have been told that my rate wouldnt increase.. WTF????? do you not see the ****ing commercials 10 times a day that specifically say "your rates will not increase just because of an accident"? not only that, but its shown as an at fault accident on my driving record. thats ****ing bull****!! im 23, been driving since 16 and NEVER had an accident or ticket. i live in philly (it actually went up when i moved out of my parents house) and i have 3 cars. i called around trying to get a better deal than $5k a year. so far state farm has me at $3100 and thats the best. i called liberty mutual and they quoted me $10k a year!!!!!! **** car insurance!!

Ya know what, I'm happy with state farm. Good service and the rates go down every 6 months(I'm at $71.xx per month limited, 2 cars). Of course, I've never made a claim so that can really change things about. But, from what I've heard, they're a bit better than some of the other big 'uns. But $3100 is on the steep side. Here is where NOT to go: AIG:mad:.

$3100>$5000>$10000

so yea. its steep no matter what. its because, even though i live in a nice quiet neighborhood, i share a zipcode with the ghetto

even if you do state farm doesnt jack your rates for them...believe me I know lol

only tihng I dont like is that accidents take a long time to come off of insurance...I got one coming off in June I think, and at that point it will be 3 years since I had it :(

I pay $270 a month with Progressive for Full Coverage on an '02 WRX. On my record is:
Non-fault accident greater than 3K in damages (Stupid bitch backed into my BRAND NEW SE-R ONE WEEK after purchase, car didn't have 300 miles on it.)
Speeding ticket
Speeding ticket
Careless

I'm happy with them so far, I haven't gotten a ticket since I've had them and have never filed a claim on any insurance policy I have ever had.

Allstate blows. I will never use them again., State farm is horrible with claims. My friend has a body shop and he hates dealing with them. My aunt has state farm and just had an accident. they were horrible to deal with. I currently have Encompass..they have been great with the little claims we have had. I am currently looking at Erie as they have some decent rates they are throwing at me.

I've used state farm since I got my license 10 years ago. I had three accidents when I was 17 and my rates went up but it wasn't bad, they all came off by the time I was 20. Nothing since but out of state speeding tickets that PA doesn't accept. :) Insurance just keeps dropping in the meantime, love it.

just switched from geico to progressive. with geico I was paying around $156 a month for full coverage. now with progressive it went down to $126 and I have 4x higher coverage limits. I have a speeding ticket, careless, and a comprehensive claim greater than a $1000 on my record.

I've had Erie Insurance for as long as I've been driving (8+ years) and I pay $70/month for full coverage on my 2006 VW GTI. I only have 2 speeding tickets in those 8 years though, so that might be why.

ThePrimerSuspect,

Your first post is what i deal with on a daily basis. Give me a call or shoot me an email and well talk. I have many clients your age that live in Philly - and i should be able to help you out. If I cant, id be happy to point you in the right direction even if that means not doing business with The Wright Agency. After all, i am a car-guy before I am an insurance agent :)

I pay $160/mo (limited) with Progressive on my 06 Ion. I've also got 1 speeding, 2 accidents (1 at fault, 1 paid off the record), and one comp claim at $2k on my record.
I was previously with Erie for 6 years, but they threatened to jack my insurance up $130 a month for a not at fault accident. I called Progressive and they gave me a quote, and told me to wait it out a week and my rates would drop because a major accident would fall off my record. Even before that accident dropped off, they were still the cheapest quote I got.

Esurance is what i use. My rates have droped from 1300/6 months with nationwide to 800/6 months. Their customer service is also very good

esurance wants $3k for 6 months. this is such bull****. by what im paying, you would think that i have a colorful driving record. if i knew 5 years ago it would be this bad, i would have at least had more fun behind the wheel.

$90 a month both cars-geico

Supra: full coverage, $500 deductible, glass, etc
Corolla: just the basic, if it is wrecked, oh well

Probably getting collector's car insurance for the Supra in a few months
