what do ya'll think of the Ford Lightning... I'm thinking about picking one up...
I was looking for a truck, and found one... unfortunately its a ford lightning (haha unfortunately...) I was looking for some awd and more rugged for the winter... but I can toss on some snow tires...
seriously considering it, are they known for any problems?? It'd be the perfect truck to tow the SRT to the track...

My neighbor had one w/ basic bolt ons (chip, exhaust, intake etc.) and that thing hauled ass. They are only RWD and still go for a hefty price but he used it mostly for towing and it worked perfectly for that.

If you want something for the winter I think it's a terrible idea, but that's just me.

i just sold mine a few months ago. with gas prices up its definately going to be hurting your walet. there also a handful in the rain so i wouldnt even drive it in the snow if i were you
maintenance is a bitch on them, the stock tire size isnt very common so each tire is about $200 bucks and with a truck that heavy with sporty tires they dont last very long
the only known problem i know of is the 99-00(possibly 98-99, i forget) trucks have a problem with blowing there spark plugs out of the head, although that usually only happens with a smaller pulley
all in all it was a great truck though, reliable, and towed surprisingly well

I looked at Lightnings for a while when I was shopping for a second car. I decided against buying one because of the issues with driving them in bad weather. The reports I read also said that even with snow tires they were just OK in the lighter snow.
The 5.4 is a strong motor that Ford has been using for a while so there are no worries there.

Excellent idea! :) If you don't need a truck then the Pathfinder is now available with the 5.6L V8 as well. V8, Leather (optional), 4X4, and it's actaully a decently capable off-road vehicle.

im actually trying to figure out how i can get my hands on an SRT8 grand cherokee. i cant get enough of that truck
oh, and if you like the lightning, look into the SRT10 ram. i was looking around last summer and the prices on them are down in like the low 20s.

I've wanted a Lightning ever since I watched one lay down 3 gears worth of tread past me. ****ing disgustingly awesome.
I'd say it's a bad vehicle to pick for winter weather... but I can't really talk now can I. :-p

srt-10 ram is too much truck for me... way to big...
srt-8 cherokee... ****ing sweet.... I loved driving them at the srt track experience even though I almost rolled one...
lightning w/ snow tires and a few hundred pounds of sand bags in the bag = decent in the snow lol.
But like I said... I was looking for something a big more rugged and winter capable (CX7, Vue, etc) are on the list... But I saw the lightning at the dealership, the price is good, the truck is immaculate... then I test drove it...
the only thing better than the sound of a turbo spooling is the LOOOOOOOOUD whine from the supercharger...
besides... it'd make a good truck to tow a track car to autocross.... (I can justify anything lol)
5.4? I think its a 5.8... but I could be wrong?
I dunno... I been thinking about the truck all day... I probably shouldn't buy it.... but then again, I probably should

My dad's got one. Awesome trucks. His has never seen a rainy day, so i honestly couldn't tell you about the weather driving from a first person p.o.v., but with his upped # pulley, intake, exhuast and a tune, it can barely hold the ground in dry weather.
