A used 9-5 aero fits all those but the aftermarket support isn't there. I hear there's gonna be a mid range evo soon, that should be a very good car.

well an sti is great, but if u are looking for something a bit different and just as good, if not better in some cases, I would have to say a mazdaspeed3. Its not as fast, esp from a dig, but it is still quick as hell, it def has a big aftermarket backing, which is still getting bigger, and you can get a brand new one with every option for under 28K, or can get one with the standard options for around 23k. If I had the money it would be the speed3.

Here is also a video of a new wrx vs. the speed3:

a rwd srt-4 would crazy
its certainly tempting.... I bet it'll be done 10 years from now when they can be had for 5k
but right now, I've heard the cost would be around 10k...
but, if i were to have it done I've have the car shortened and turned into a coupe while having that work done...

The best performance cars you can buy under 30g's right now are as follow's:
-C5 Corvette, Z06 is attainable if you look for a deal.
-'05/'06 GTO with the LS2.
-STI or EVO, either of these can be sketchy if you don't know the pedigree of the used car you are buying.

Yeah, the used ones go cheap. You could get a c30 and make it fast with the cash left over.
But you sound set on a sti, so why not get one?

Like i said in your other post, It takes time to find the rite car, there shouldn't be a rush. You will be happy in the end to wait and get exactly what you want. I seen to many friends rush and not wait and they have been unhappy with the car's they choose since. If you want an sti then don't settle for less unless you choose to get an evo then your not settling for less ;)

This.
You can get an early 2000s Z06 for 30Gs really easy.

Very good choice, something i didn't think about. I never gave thought to where these cars are priced at now but you should be able to get one for a good deal by now.

Evos have cheaper aftermarket parts and can be made faster with little money. Everything for subys is expensive. Plus evos are easier to work on.
I love STi's but I'm just saying.
