So I'm moving, and have a few years worth of used motor oil bottled up in my garage from oil changes. It's just kind of built up over the years and now I realized how much I have, probably 25 - 30 gallons or so.

So, where can I take it? I know that a lot of us do our own maintenence, so where do you guys dispose of it?

Can't you take it to most auto parts store and dispose of it for free?

A guy I know has a waste oil burner that he uses for heat in his garage, so I just take it there and then he runs it through a filter or two and burns it for heat in the winter.

Most gas stations should take it for you.

buddy of mine works for a company called safety kleen, they pick up used oil for recycling. i can ask him if the do residents like yourself who has alot. you can def go to pep boys and places like that, but trying to move 30 gallons of oil maybe a pita.

Yea with 30 gallons you are going to have fun. You may have to pay someone to get rid of it all or have your friends take it to a autozone/pepboys type place 5 gallons at a time. Also check with your town, they may also be able to help you dispose of waste oil.

By law, any shop that is an authorized inspection station must take it.

lols..i say if you have a truck load her up and head to jiffy lube. if not get a friend with a truck so you dont take the chance of spilling it in your car.

you can take it to pep boys but they will only take like 5qts at a time. some dealers might take it b/c they use it for their heat in the winter....i know that what d ambrosio dodge did when i worked there

Autozone takes used oil. The one by my place has a giant tank for their waste oil burner like Kupop said and if that gets full they always have a 55 gallon drum to fill up. Just take it all in at once and get some help...it won't be a problem.
