Posting this for a friend of mine.
2001 Honda S2000
69,000 miles on vehicle overall, around 38,000 on Engine and Clutch.
While driving, he ended up running over something that dented the oil pan, leading to all oil draining out of the original engine. That's why he had it replaced.
Full custom exhaust set-up; Headers -> back.
2.5", done by a local shop. It sounds sooooooooooooo nice.
AEM Intake
New tires all around, Rears have about less than 100 miles on them, front have about 200 miles on them.
Brand new top with glass window instead of plastic.
Just replaced rear wheel bearings from Honda.
He's looking to get $15,500 for it, but price is negotiable so make an offer. I know he's interested in getting another Jeep, so he may be open to some trades.
If you have any other questions, send me a message and I can answer it, or I'll give you his number so you can call him
direct.

Don't really care what KBB says. It's great for stock vehicles and stock vehicles only. This doesn't have much done to it, but is very well maintained and an overall great car. He believes recent things done to it make this a worthwhile car.
So if you don't like the price.... make an offer. 18k is just his starting point because he knows no matter what he posts he's going to have people offering lower. He could probably list this for 5 grand and someone still try and talk him down to 4.
It's part of selling a used car.

When he told me the price I just kinda looked at him, told him he could definitely get around 15. I'm sure if someone offered him 15 or 16 and ad the money he'd probably take it.

I agree with you. 15 is much more reasonable especially with a newer engine, as long as he has the paperwork to prove it, which Im sure he does. Ill know later this week where I stand on buying another car...

this car is way over priced. kbb is 14K and thats still high. these cars have such a lmited market. the true ACV (actual cash value) is about 9-9500. im looking at manhiem and they are 8-9000 with that high mileage. Just giving food for throught.

Maybe a tier 3 car, not this. Manheim's MMR says on the Auction Averages list
2001 Honda S2000
Average condition (and this looks like its in good condition, not average)
65k miles
12,313
8-9k....no...if they were that cheap there in this condition, i'd have had one long ago
:bump: Tell your friend to consider lowering the price to even get some interest, 18,000 is just high for that car I dont mean to be rude or anything, but if he started it at 16k, he would still walk away happy and get more people interested as well..not everyone knows that hes asking 18k and has 2-3k of bargain room

So your saying its worth about 12k, but then you told him to ask 16k? Im still not sure thats going to help. I have seen 2001s in mint condtiton asking 13500 and have been for sale for 8 months.
Not tying to be an ass just trying to figure out why you think 16k is a good asking price.

Well, he's about to dump about 3 grand into it for a new rear diff. At that point, he's probably gonna be set on 16k. He also just had the rear wheel bearings replaced from Honda and 2 brand new tires on the rear (had 1 blow out last week) Right now, I don't even know if he'd take any offers.
I definitely agree that he's expecting too much for the vehicle, but maybe that's cause I live in the bargain basement dsm world.

thats fine all im saying is for 16-18k you could go out and get a ap2 with lower miles and all original.

Truthfully I'm all for him not getting rid of it, that way he'd finally give up and race it against my Talon over at BSD. He refuses to race me even after all the **** he gives me about it being an "ancient" talon.

thats great all im saying is that car will never pull that much 12k is more realistic even a 13k asking price would make more sense.

That was my bad.
I hate bad cell reception. He told me 14k or 13k not 12.
But he said he'd rather have it repaired before selling it so that nobody had to deal with immediate repairs or anything like that. But when he does repair it, he'll be asking more, like around 16

He might be able to get what he wants for it, I dunno. Depends on if anyone is looking for it I guess. I've had offers of 18k for my 2001 but now I dunno if I wanna sell it lol

i am just referring to a stock 2001 s2000, not a nsx or a viper or a bmw.

And 30k for a 92 nsx is??
How can you compare a classic "supercar" that was engineered by Ayrton Senna (partly), to a modern roadster??
A 92 NSX is worth 30k. The problem with the S2000 is that not everyone will care how many miles are on the engine, they see chassis mileage and thats what matters to them, and thats how they price the car there might be a few handfulls of people that will think otherwise.

I'm just saying 16k is not a crazy price to ask. Like I said before, I was offered 18k for mine and I have an 01, yes this was recently.

You're saying a 92 NSX is worth 30k and I say the 01 S2000 is worth 16k as well BUT, just like the NSX you will have to wait for the right buyer, I doubt many if any of you would purchase a 92 NSX judging by how many Evo's and STi's there are. However, you should believe what you want for this is only my opinion.

Reason he is selling ? might be in here didnt look through all pages

Reason he is selling: Car gets him into trouble. He lost his license with this car, plus now he's moving out on his own and knows he's not going to be able to afford it anymore.
