I normally run 18 pounds.

Since I'm on travel for the week....maybe time to thaw will clear things up (since most of my vents was blocked by ice)

i think i heard somewhere. dont quote me. that when IC or intake temps get REALLY low that the ECU will limit boost? just an idea

cold air is a good thing because it promotes making more power.

Plus, I was out driving last night during the storm....perfectly fine.

When it thaws out....I'll see.

I would think so...especially because people up north would be triggering CELs many months in the year

found it. still doesnt make sense tho. A little background. This is a thread about EVO's and has nothing to do with Vdub's.

then that would mean many of the states in the US where it regularly gets a lot colder than over hear would need to have a special ecu program to avoid CELs.

imo, it's very unlikely. I tink he's talking out of his ass.

so, i'm totally car-dumb at this point, but you mentioned that you were out in the noreaster w/the car- do you have a FMIC? could it have been blocked w/snow/etc/? just an idea from a completey car-uneducated yet common-sensical person.

the topic of a VW limiting boost in cold weather is partially correct. The car will go into limp mode, but it is not weather dependant. If the engine is cold are start up, and the computer feels you are pushing the car too much without propper warm up, the car will go into limp mode and will limit boost to about 6#'s. All 1.8T's and TDi's will do this, and 2.0s will pull timing.
