eh, considering the money spent on that website, I'm sure someone has picked up the torch and is running with it...

Word. Big fan of the w8 and the Weigert Vectors. 21 w8's were built with 17 known to still be about. The engine is a 6.0 v8 based upon a Rodeck y-block(like a donovan) with twin h-trim t04b's. The engine was rated at 625hp, however, some cars had a higher boost pressure and all cars had the fueling to support a good deal more boost.
There is some speculation that the front end of these cars get light at speed negating the potential to hit their claimed 242mph top speed. However, there were false reports that the w8 had a cd of .55 which is entirely untrue, it is .32.
You have to respect vector for getting as far as they did on basically a dream. Optimism and limited funding killed the real Vector(the m12 is'nt a vector:wink:). They let the press view unfinished cars. The biggest debacle was with Agassi. He had a W8 on order and demanded that he have the car for a photo shoot. Vector gave him the car on the condition that he did'nt drive it as certain things were'nt complete(I've seen conflicting info as to what exactly was incomplete). He went against this advice, drove it, and it caught fire. Vector refunded his money, but the damage to their rep was already done.
The common opinion of these cars is that they're little more than kit cars. However, in seeing accounts from people who own them, they are built of a very high quality and are actually reliable(I've heard of one that was owned for years on a repair cost of only $2k). The body is of carbon kevlar and some cars were ordered with ostrich leather interior.
Very interesting company history to say the least. When jerry Weigert sold the company to megatech, he was told he'd retain control of the operations. They went against this, fired most employees, and tried to edge Weigert out. In response, he changed all the locks to their headquarters, locked himself inside, and had to be removed by police force! I could go on and on about vector but I have'nt the time. Good day.
