I wouldn't. STIs don't really like intakes with the stock ECU.

As for my experience, and many other local people, it seems to be a crap shoot as to how the car responds just to a silencer removal (whetheless intake).

Have you run your car lately? I had trouble trapping over 100mph with my intake, catless TBE, and FMIC. Car never ran right after the TXS intake. My buddy removed just the silencer on his 04 WRX, and it started throwing CELs for misfires like crazy. Put it back on and nothing, ran great.

I also think Cliff (aluchua) had minor problems with his minus EM. He seemed luckier than most.

I just put another TBE in a car with accessport last weekend. No intake mods, car was very, very, strong.

Not that I am dead set against them, but they just aren't for certain people. TBE and chip it. You will be fine. Only go to intake when you put on a FMIC, and rotated turbo kit. Save your money.

The car ran ok on the AP with the intake, though I think it may have hindered my 1/4 mile performance a bit...but the FMIC on the AP was probably a big factor there as well. On the factory ECU only, the car was a bit of a dog.

Did the intake silencer removal on both my WRX's without a single problem...

Statement worth exactly 1/50th of a dollar.

I dont think i'm going to do an intake until I have to... I've read that the stock intake is efficient enough

So...has anybody found any updates about Cobb making a map for the STi AP that makes their new intake user friendly? If im not mistaken, they have a map for the WRX AP that allows you to use Injen intakes. I believe i heard this from Jamie (Orbit).

IMO, they should not release parts like the intake without having the map that goes with it. Only makes sense, wait an extra month to release the intake to have time to develop a map! :wiggle:

They should be able to whip a map up in a few minutes... its the testing that takes time.
