I'm located in Bucks County (Waminster), Pa......and I have an 07 WRX....I'm currently running stage 2 (no cats)....I will pass everything except the visual for state inspection...obviously with running no cats. I need to know where all the stage 2 subaru guys are taking to get inspected, because i dont feel like having to take off my downpipe ect just a PITA....If anybody could point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks

wtf is a visual inspection lol
means that they stick the car on the diagnostics machine and then visually take a look for components such as cats

Or just to to any small shop. Inspections are easy money, and 90% of the shops around do not waste more time than they have to on an inspection. Your car is an 07, so they will just see that and assume that everything is fine. They will check your lights, they should check the brakes (but many will skip this on an 07 and just assume), they will look at your tires, and they will plug it into the emissions machine. As long as you don't have CEL, you are good!

Dude, I passed catless NJ state inspection. I simply put the mid pipe/downpipe cat heatshield on and I passed through with quite the scrutinizing eye but I passed!

Yea I have tried 2 very small shops already, i drop it off get a call few hrs later we cant inpect the vehicle you have no cats blah blah just getting to be a pain esp with being a full time student and job ect I need my vehicle. I even tried throwing him extra cash I was shocked! I'm just going to have to keep searching to find it a place that finally passes me. I have no CEL or Cruise flashing so I thought I would be be good, I was mistaken haha. Thanks for the feedback though, I will try my luck elsewhere

yea, come to think of it i would probably think i was being set up and blow you out of there too. its risky too cuz the states computer reads readiness monitors and if it shows "N/A" for the cat it kinda sends up a red flag that most shops dont wanna take a chance with.

Isnt there a HUGE fine from a police officer for not having a cat on the vehicle? This is what I have been hearing lately....true?

Yes I'm pretty sure its a huge violation, but as long as Im not on it and driving like an idiot I don't think the officers would be able to tell the difference just by my exhaust tone. They have much more important issues to take care of. I have yet to hear of somebody getting a citation for this...at least in my area.

Unless cops run around with jacks and with the intention of jacking up the car to look....I doubt it.

just somthing I have been thinking about cuz' Im planning on re-doing the exhaust without the cat... My car is wayyyy to low to peak under and also way to low to stick a normal jack under it, so if they did wanna jack it up... I have been thinking about breaking the tack welds on the cat I have now and weld the cover/case around the new exhuast piping just in case and for the visual inspection....The car is exempt from emisions every year so thats somthing I wont have to worry about.

I drove around for a year with a 4in exhaust on my RX-7. No cats, no resonators, Just a HUGE Apexi GT Spec muffler. I was pulled over at least 5 times for shooting flames, Never said anything about a cat. And they let me off each time....Just tell them your exhaust is broken.

you'd be surprised. it happened to my buddy with a DE trooper. he had a mirror with a telescoping handle. gave him over $1k in tickets but that didnt even include the cat fine. i know its like a 5 or 10k fine if a shop gets caught removing a cat.
