I decided to take the seats out of the Infiniti and i had to unplug the harnesses (power, heat, and side airbag). I took them out because it was 20 something degrees out and the leathers seats were dried and dirty. I cleaned everything up and bolted them back into the car after replugging the harnesses back. I did try turning on the car before i had the seats in so i can move it up the driveway and of course I expected the airbag light to blink without the seats in.
Everything is back in place now but the airbag light is still going off. Whats going on?

i would either give it a couple days or pull the negative cable and reset everything.

+1. Disconnect the "-" terminal for a few hours and re-attach. See if the light still throws.

A few hours??? Just disconnect the battery and pull the ECU fuse out. Wait like 30 seconds and put it back in.

Alright, thanks. I'll try that tomorrow because it's dark out.
It's a 01 QX4 btw.

to reset the ECU i always just pull the ECU fuse for like 15 seconds, and it works. i want to put racing seats in but will be pissed with the airbag light always on. apparently you can still pass NYS inspection with the airbag light on.

I'm used to the BMW ECU resetting after 60-120 of battery disconnect. Take off the negative terminal, have lunch, reconnect, and done.

when i do seats on mazdas i like to make sure the key is out of the ignition and the neg connector has been disconnected for at least 1 min. did u do these things b4 working on it? if u unplug the air bag harnessess with the key ON i kno the light will throw.
if u do the battery disconnect and it still doesnt go out try the "wiggle test" grab the harness conectros for the seat and pull and push on them and move them around. sometimes u may not have a good click on them and itll thro a code for high resistance and stuff....just dont pull from the wires...pull from the connector itself

I didn't disconnect the negative connector when i removed the seat. IIRC, i had the key in the ignition in the ON position also (with the heater on). Stupid me on both parts...
I will try all the suggestions tomorrow when theres light out. I went out for a short drive before and the seat warmer, memory, and positioning was working fine.

the airbag module saw high resistance when you disconnected the seat. disconnect the battery, touch the positive and negative together (this discharges all the capacitors in the system). pulling the PCM fuse will do nothing, its a completely different system

+1.
That's how you reset the fuse in most late model cars. I know it's how I do it in my M3. Works every time.

I popped the hood and disconnect the battery cables and rubbed the connectors together. I fastened the connectors back onto the battery and proceeded to start the car (key weren't in the ignition when i remove and contacted the cables). Waited a few seconds and it still threw the air bag light.
I turned the car off and remove the keys from the ignition. I reached under the seats and wiggled and pushed the connectors. As far as i could tell (without removing the seats), the connectors were in place.
I got out and disconnected the connectors for the battery cables again and rubbed the connectors. Again i fastened them and proceeded to put the keys into the ignition and start the car. Same result.

gotta get it scanned my man. but before you do that, try disconnecting the battery overnight. then see if it comes on in the morning. i dont know much about infinities, but there may be a sensor that needs to be initialized in the seat. take it to the dealer and tell them what you did. it shouldnt cost more than like $100 to scan it and re-initialize it. i would try maybe taking it to a dealer on a saturday and see if you can find a tech who is cool and will slide the car in for like $20, that is if you dont know somebody.

Left the battery disconnected overnight and plugged it back today and fired it up.
Same thing...
I guess i have to hit up the dealer? :(

looks that way. its probably got a weight sensor in the seat that needs to be re-calibrated.
