Just hooked up my 360 to a fully HD ready T.V.

I need help with the settings for it.

It'll "take" any of the 360's settings, even 1080P...but do I really want it to go all the way up there?

I'm clueless when it comes to this ****, and the internet is teh_suck when it comes to HD help.

Also, what the hell is Black Level, and what should it get set on?

Do you have an xbox premium with HDMI, or the new arcade xbox 360's? That's the only way you'd be seeing 1080p, so put it to 1080i.. if not.

I've got a Premium...however the newest update allows full selection.

480
720p
1080i
1080p

Which one looks the best without any lag or bleeding?

I said, or the new arcade xbox's... they do it without HDMI, pretty sure.

Then you probably are not seeing 1080p, just because you put your settings on 1080p doesn't mean it's actually doing it. 1080p is through HDMI.

are you saying that you cannot get a 1080p signal from component?

Correct, I'm pretty sure that they don't provide 1080p.. that's the point of the HDMI. If I'm wrong.. I'm wrong, but I've always heard what I stated. but if I am wrong.. please correct me, because I have a 1080p TV.. and component cables and I've always used 1080i.. if it's possible I'd love to go to 1080p and check it out!

yes ALL versions of the xbox support 1080p.
if your tv supports 1080p through component it will work.

* alot of people are apparently under the impression that you cannot use 1080p with the component cables because their tv wont allow more than 1080i.

i hope that link helps ya out and you get it going in 1080p

That's interesting.. my xbox never showed an option for 1080p. Like I said, there was an update for the xbox's to get that option.. I haven't checked on mine.. because I always thought the component cables couldn't do 1080p. I'll check it out tonight when I get in from work though!

I've been reading and going out of my mind testing settings for the last 2 days.

I'm under the conclusion that 720p is best for fast-paced things.

IE: Sports broadcasts, action movies, video games, etc.

Whereas 1080i is meant for stiller images....and 1080p just being overkill for a 30 inch screen....

if your xbox never showed the option its because you looked pre- fall update 07.

Didn't read the whole thread to see if you got a good answer but find out what native resolution your TV is and set your Xbox to that. For instance, my TV is 720p but it will display 1080i, it just drops it down. But rather than having the TV do extra work it is easier to set up your input to display in the proper resolution.

If you can run full 1080p than do it. And my arcade xbox, with 20gb hard drive has a HDMI port but i dont even have a hi-def tv so it doesnt matter
