You have a water cooled turbo, no? You don't need one.

You don't need one...that's what tons of people with WRX's tell me. Plus why not do it yourself? It's so easy, I am a girl and I figured it out.

I installed mine. It is plug & play, only take a couple minutes to install.

if it's the stock turbo it is water cooled and you don't need it. Just idle for like 30 seconds after driving it hard.

If you have the harness then it's just plug/play like cravej said. It depends on the model timer you have and the extra features (i.e. o2 sensor, voltage, etc.) to tap into the wires into your ECU. Instead, how about you ask some of the fellow WRX members on the board to help you install. It's easier then what you are making it out to be.

yeah its got all those features and thats what i wanna hook up but like i said im scared to mess with these computers... i grew up on hot rods with no computers so i dont like to mess with them

Well as I said, if you want those features then you are going to have to tap into the ECU harness. If you want just the turbo timer feature/option then it's just plug and play. It's not hard at all, especially since the TT gives you a wiring diagram by color. You are somewhat close to me, if you want my help/guidance just let me know what turbo timer model you have and I can come help you this weekend if you want.

It's the one that is small and shaped like a pen? Silver? With the o2 sensor/af, battery voltage, and timer? If so I have the same exact ones, it's three wires. One is ground, o2 sensor, and e-brake. Super easy to install...lmk if you want help. The only tap you would need is for the e-brake (safety feature) and the o2 sensor.

Good deal, I can definately help. Just do me three things or please try to have them prepared when I show up:
1.) Where you want to mount it (double sticky tape isn't too fun putting everywhere)
2.) A good ground
3.) What color your o2 sensor voltage wire is on your ECU harness.

Thanks

Regardless of whether or not it's a water-cooled turbo; it's still a good idea to time it.

Barry just gave me the info on it, the WRX's are still oil cooled and the STi's are water cooled. I have been told that water cooled turbo's don't really need a cool down process. Either way the guy already has it and wants help installing it.

i am not going to say you are right or wrong cause i am new to all of this but from my car i turn it right off with no problems. If it was a problem on stock cars subaru would have done it on their own to avoid warranty issues down the road.

yeah i know its probably not a problem now but i have it now and want to install it because i dont plan on keeping it stock for long so this will be just one of those preventive maintenence things... know what i mean. why wait later to put it in...
