You have to adjust it more. There are a range of tolerances for each type of CD. Took me 3 tries to get mine to work good.

wipe the laser down with some alcohol on a qtip. that usually works for me.

Thanks guys. I think $50 is a fair price for someone who knows how to fix it.

I've tried the alcohol wipe, and I've spent a long time adjusting. I guess I'll just give it some more time.

i used to fix/adjust these things when i worked for EB games... there are 2 screws on the bottom of the laser... they can only be turned so much... IIRC the one on the left is the one you want to adjust... also, def clean the lense.

thats exactly what i do and mine works every time. i never adjust the laser. wipe it down and it should be good to go, I've fixed many ps2"s like this :)
