Out of curiosity, what led you to considering an SR9? A general rule of thumb is to not buy the earlier stages of any gun.

However, about a month ago, my local gun store had one. The owner said that it actually shot extremely well, no problems what so ever (which is rare for most guns, sad, huh?). He did say that the trigger left a lot to be desired before shooting it, but it quickly went away.

I got to play with it, but not shoot it. The trigger was decent, it was comfortable, light weight, well balanced, and seemed like a decent gun. Also, if I remember right, it holds 18 rounds??? I can't say that it would be my first choice though considering the other options for the price (they were asking $499). If it were $299, it would be a great gun for the price range.

My roommate gets rifle association magazine (something like that, can't remember the exact name) and I read a lot of reviews. I've been thinking about picking up a gun for a little while now the Ruger SR-9 was something that just caught my eye when flipping through the magazine. I read some good reviews on the Kel-Tech PF9, but than saw it in person and didn't like how small it was. Priced great @ $269 at the armory over the weekend though...I was flipping thru the mag the next month and saw an ad for it, checked out a couple of reviews online and it looked good. I read some online reviews about the SR9 and they seemed to be pretty good.

I don't know too much about guns, I just enjoy going to the range and shooting. Have any recommendations that I can maybe check out. I'm looking to pick up something in the next month or so. not looking to spend over $500-550. any advice/info would be great.

My friend just bought the S&W compact M&P .40 about a month ago. I shot a few rounds through it and it was a pretty good gun. I have a couple Glocks and H&Ks, but I shot better with this one. He got it for, I believe, $350 bc of the special S&W had, but I think its over now. Regular price is around $400 tho, so still in your price range.

For the price range, the use, and I'm going to rec. all 9mm for price of ammo; GLOCK 17 or 19, Springfield XD-9 or XD-9 service, M&P 9mm or M&P 9mm compact, Walther P99 or Sig P226 (though these might be just out of your price range), in no exact order. Shoot them all if you can, and pick from there. They are the guns that I'm comfortable recommending with the given price, and I'm sure anyone else would agree.

Also, I believe that the $50 rebate for the M&P's are back.

$269 is an unusually low price, in fact, I don't think that is even possible. :bigeek: For that price, it's worth picking up.
