As some of you may know ive got a b16a in my 92 hatch. The car is in need of a head gasket and ive decided i would like to mill the head. Can someone confirm that .030 is the max the head can be milled? If this is true is that with a stock head gasket? Does anyone know the exact thickness of a stock head gasket. I would ideally like to mill the head .015 and then get a 2layer head gasket. I am hoping to end up with about the same compression bump as if i had milled it .030. The reason i do not want to mill to the max is incase in the future i have to have the head decked(bad hg/overheatin)
Ontop of all of those maybe noobish questions, Must i run extended lift cams with higher compression. I think it is deffinately recommended to get the most power out of the car, but must it be done? If so, with this type of a compression bump is stage 1 typically recomended? CTR cams?
Last, but not least, do any of the current tst sponsors have 2 layer headgaskets for b-series available? Thank you everyone. Oh, also, i tried on h-t but like always i got the typical useless hater-tech hate.

no trying to knock your thoughts.my $0.02. if you want to mill the head get it milled for what it needs not just because.just take it to the machine shop and have it decked/milled to be even across the board.thats if it needs it.and if your engine is not built up or anything just use a new oem head gasket from honda or your local parts store.if not go to a speed shop and get a low # cometic head gasket. for example i have a .060 cometic on mine to bump down my #'s like i said just my $0.02

I would obviously get the head decked when it comes off, its always a good idea to have aluminum heads decked. I figured while its off why not just have them mill a little more then get a thinner hg to up comp some.

While I might agree with that statement on most alum heads I have yet to have my any of my honda heads decked after removing them. I have always checked them with a straight edge and they have been fine. I personally would not waste the time or money but that is up to you.

u deff run on the hot side of the gauge when you mill it and if you overheat and warp well there is nothing left to mill and u need a new head. i would do what jdeghatchy hatchy said only if it needs it do it other than that cometic is the way to go..or get ready for hot temps esp.in the summer.

If the head has an available .030 for milling milling it .015 would still leave me room for decking later.
