but seriously, i do love it
one thing that a Pc user does that a MAc user doesn't, is installing anti-everything soft-ware and reboot every 10 min!!

Yea, I wonder when they will start attacking mac. I heard they don't because there are so much more PC users then Mac. It seems like thats changing though.
one thing that a Pc user does that a MAc user doesn't, is installing anti-everything soft-ware and reboot every 10 min!!
I've had my HP laptop for almost 5 years now, and it does not have any problems at all. I don't have to install anti-everything-whatever, and my computer can stay on for days without rebooting.. hell, it starts up and is ready for use with no lag at all in 30 seconds. It really depends on the person, each product is good (Mac and PC) when used properly, but some people don't know how to use PC's properly.

i hate macs for one reason
one click button
hold on you mean to tell me you really have to thin twice about clicking on something? i thought thats why they made the back, undo and stop features on computers? Why click twice when once is simple, faster and easier for someone to adapt to? **** i know if i click on something i dont want to have to tell the computer twice "hey dumbass, yeah i ment it go to home". If the only reason your against macs is because of that then id hate to see how your relationships are. Thats like saying you wont have sex with a girl because that even if you wear a rubber theres that .1% chance of getting her pregnant or acquiring an STD. Im not saying your that person, im just relating your reasoning.

and for the record, i like osx. Its Unix for the masses, and thats a cool thing in my book. Apple also has some nice hardware designs. But what really bugs me is their shady advertising. They make flat out false claims about things to try to make you feel hip and cool while you fork over your hard earned cash on something thats clearly over priced.

Mac has always been based on Unix... and they're trying to make it easier and easier for people to move from PC to Mac (if mac's are so great, why do they need to make it easier for people to switch...)
So yeah... Mac OS's are Unix for the masses since people really don't use Unix otherwise.
And the reason PC's get ****ed up, is because you can install and uninstall as much as you want. People go over board and end up destroying important files, downloading **** they shouldn't, etc.
The reason mac's don't require as much virus protection... is really because the userbase is too small to warrant the efforts, and not to many keep important, read valuable, information on them :)

I have bought 1 $700 HP laptop, and then 2 days after the one warranty expired it took a dump. I then bought a similarly priced Dell and again the same consequence. For grad school bought an $1100 iBook G4. It is now in its 5th year and I have not had one problem yet.
If I had bought another cheap PC notebook it would already be horribly outdated and slow at this point but my iBook can keep up.
As far as I am concerned I saved myself a ton of money by buying an upper level computer rather than a cheapie.
This is just my experience.

I've built my own PC's since the 386 days and have never owned anything else (except a really neat Radioshack TRS DOS 80 back in the early 80's). I've used Mac's in school and my uncle is a "Mac person" so I have some experience with them. While I like the idea of Mac the limited abilities of it have convinced me to never own one. Besides work I primarily use my PC for gaming and that is something the Mac is horrible at that my PC can do without issue. I suppose for a complete computer novice that just wants to check their e-mail and surf the web, a Mac is an excellent choice.
If we want to talk about cool non-PC computers than the only thing worth mentioning IMO is the Commodore 64.

Ahh, mac makes a multubutton mouse (it not a great one though), or you can just any usb two button mouse and it works just fine. Left, right, scroll whatever.
Also you can right click with the older one button mouse by also clicking the mouse and hitting the control button at the same time.
Edit: In fact new mac loptops are using multi touch mouse pads that you can do a whole bunch of cool stuff on

pc > mac because there is more software available, you can also do more things with a pc then a mac, gaming is also better on pc, just cause some people are r-tards and can't use a pc correctly does not mean they suck. fyi I have never had the infamous blue windows screen in 12 years of using a pc (thats on about 10 different pcs 4 of which I built) my parent still have our very first pc which is 12 years old and the damn thing still runs, oh and vista is actually really nice I don't have any troubles with it, macs are for mainstream trendy people

I right click allllll the time, its called hold control and click  rofl. All kidding aside, I owned a pc from the time I was a kid till i was 18. I switched to mac when I went to college for design and I will never go back to pc. I am not some mac elitist, I am not saying pc's suck. I think it is a preference thing with how you like to use your comp. And I have met some of those die-hard mac people who scream that pc's are crap, they annoy the hell out of me too. I also feel mac is way too expensive, but it is usually worth it. My boyfriend just built a sick sysytem for his pc and I think it is awesome, but not my thing. So on that note I end by saying no one is better- it is just a personal choice deal.

I own a macbook pro running OSX Tiger and a PC desktop. I know how to use both, and am good at fixing PC's. I'm not an idiot when it comes to computers, and I don't think the majority of Mac owners are. I have to say that this Mac as been excellent compared to my PC experiences and I'll probably continue to buy Macs. My complaints are costs (software, the actual computer, etc), lack of gaming, and thats really it. I'll probably end up owning at least one more PC in my life (for gaming and probably a "beater" computer), but I'm sure it'll primarily be Macs. Either way the argument is dumb, to each his own, neither is all knowing and all powerful. So deal with the fact that some will like one more than the other, and some will be pretentious about their decision to pick one or the other. Oh well, thats life.
And with the second click thing: new mac laptops allow you to second click by putting two fingers on the trackpad then clicking, and the apple mouse allows second click to be enabled or disabled too, so that's not a legitimate complaint in my opinion.

I bet that all Mac parts were probably designed on a PC because I don't know of a single popular CAD program that runs on Macs. A computer is only as good as the software that runs on it.
90% of software does not run on a Mac.
It's been mentioned, but I hate the PC vs Mac arguement. Why? Because I'm tired of hearing that the Mac dosen't get virus or the Mac doesn't crash. It's already been mentioned that the limitations on the Mac, is basically what keeps it from "crashing" or from getting viruses. And BTW, there are Mac viruses out there.
I've been working with PC's before I was potty trained lol. Really though, I've been doing this for so long as NJGoat stated as well.
In all my years, I've had VERY FEW complications or problems. Why? Because I know what I'm doing and I know how to take care of things. PC users can install so many more applications then Mac users, and therefore, can get themselves in so much more trouble. Stop blaming the computer system for the problems when it's the user that is to blame.
Same thing applies to all these people who bitch about Vista. Vista is great if you have the "proper" hardware to run it, and if you really understand how to keep the computer problem free.
I believe my statement above is also why some people feel Mac users are dumb. It's not so much dumb as it is ignorance. They don't need to learn as much IMHO, because they have less software and applications, so therefore have less to learn.
And one other thing...for those saying that they bought a computer and it breaks after warranty....Don't buy cheap computers or brands and you won't have those problems.
I've NEVER bought a brand computer. I always build my own, because I KNOW that I use better quality parts, instead of just looking for the cheapest parts manufacturer to throw in a case and slap my name on it.

Right, I agree.
Dont get me wrong, I LOVE Ubuntu.
My point was that OSX is cool because its Unix for the masses. It gets constant tv advertising, and the average person can walk into any store and buy it preinstalled on a computer. They think they are buying a "mac", when in fact they are paying almost double for PC hardware running Unix software.
I look at Mac guys like I look at BMW owers. They normally don't know a thing about their car. They just know that they want performance and luxury and are willing to pay whatever it takes. Then they walk around with their heads held high, thinking they have the fastest/best car/computer in the world.

My problem with PCs has never been Windows. In fact I've had very few problems with Windows (except the whole security thing a few years ago which they have been diligent about since).
My problems have been with the makers of PC hardware. I have owned or worked with 10 different pieces of HP/Compaq computers/printers/cameras etc.. and not one of them has lasted a year beyond the warranty.
I've had about a 60-70% success rate with Dell.
Mac makes both hardware and software (OSX) and I have found both to be pretty reliable. However the last piece of computer hardware I have bought was 5 years ago. I can't vouch for Mac since they left PPC chips for Intel in terms of Hardware. (My iPod shuffle I bought 2 years ago is a tank though)
I can tell you that for every day business use Windows is easier. But when I get home and want to manage my MP3s and movies and internet usage, My iBook G4 with OSX 10.4 is is reliable and easy.
This conversation needs to be divided into two categories when comparing. Software and hardware.
My ultimate goal would be to break down and buy a Mac that I can run both OSX and Windows.

yeah i was talking about the GUI, all together, but the simplicity of the dsktop to be specific. i believe that it has more of a basic and user friendly layout. different things such as u can have 2-16+ desktops to work on (16 was the highest i went to i havent tried to go further), a button you can press to hide the icons on the desktop, the dashboard (which i only use for the weather). i just think it is cleaner all together. if i took away this window, all i see is the top menu bar and the background.

Ok, I don't see what's special about that. In Windows, you can create more then one desktop. You also have the option to hide all icons on desktop. And now with Vista, you can "dock" windows on the screen just like in the picture you posted.
