Where does everyone get there dental insurance? I can get mine threw work, but it barley covers anything, and Im gunna need some work on a tooth this summer, and I wanna get as much coverage as possible. Where does everyone get theres? i know alot of you prolly go threw your work, but I figured I'd give this a shot.

Most dental insurances don't cover everything. Also, they may seem limited, but they really aren't. I have Met through work and the way it works is this:
Say you need a root canal, that is considered a tier 2 operation under my plan. They will cover 50% of the cost. HOWEVER, they will only cover what they feel the operation is worth. Say the root canal is going to be $1,000 retail. Your insurance may believe that the proceedure should only cost $600 and they will cover 50% of it. So, you go in network and your cost will be $300 (50% of the negotiated cost), if you go out of network, it will cost you $700 (your insurance will only pay 50% of what they think it should cost).
Every dental plan I've ever had works this way. There are always out of pocket costs with dental. The key is to go to an in network dentist and minimize your costs. Most dentists will also do payment plans if you can't pay it all up front. Also, your insurance through work should be significantly better/cheaper than what you can buy on your own. Another thing to think about is that most privately purchased insurance has a minimum term that you need to agree to and most will not cover pre-existing conditions. So, you may end up having to carry extra insurance for a year or more, just to get a small break now.

I know im gunna have to pay some, but mine work would cover about 25% and I know Im gunna need a root canal, if not 2. So im lookin for a lil better then that.

Like stated above me.....
All medical operations have a price for which they are allowed to cost. It's like retail price. Doctors, hospitals etc.... charge whatever they want. If it goes through insurance, the insurance company will cut their bill down to whatever the retail price is. I work for an insurance company, we have programs that reprice medical bills all day every day. We save millions a year by only paying retail.

I have Aetna medical and dental. I had a $2800 root canal and paid $35, and like $15 for the pain killers (I also think that i had to pay another $50 or something because it was a big operation, but total, it was $100 or less). It really depends on what plan you go with, but I have been extremely happy with Aetna for everything (over a 4 year period come march).
Under $50 for my emergency room trip to have my finger stitched back on
Under $50 for my emergency room trip to have my ankle x-rayed and cast
About $50 for my root canal ordeal
Under $50 for a couple of fillings
$25 (my general doctor/whatever) plus $15 (meds) for the last doctor visit
It's $25 dollar co-pay for most stuff, $35 for specialty co pay for other stuff, and I think the subscription plan is about $15 for meds. It's $106/month for full medical/dental.

It's a self-employed plan, but I'm pretty sure anyone can get it. I'll try to get the specific plan over the next day or two. For what it's worth, the way they price it is really odd. For me it's $106/month, but I know others who are pretty much the same health condition/don't smoke/no pre-existing problems, but 1 thing is out of whack and they paid over $300/month.
