Alright its that time of year, Steve Jobs Keynote is hours away and much speculated is an ultra thin Macbook Air that will use a flash based hard drive and will have an unprecedented battery life (12 hours was the last rumor I heard). Macrumors has more info www.macrumors.com
These of course are all just rumors. This time last year was the unveiling of the iPhone and these keynote addresses are where Apple launches their newest hardware/software.
Let the madness mildly begin.

Ill catch the cliffnotes later.... but idk how I feel about a flash-drive style HDD. Id rather go solid-state for a while.

It would probably have an Apple price tag attached to it though! If it was still reasonably priced and had a good size screen (10-12") i would still consider it. Something tells me it would be priced above the MacBooks though.

That really is the one thing that has steered me away from Macs in general. I want one to mess around with, and learn, but the cost is just not justifiable to me. I already have 2 versions of Windows, and Ubuntu running on my desktop, and I just wanna get this.
And of course, the hacked versions of OSX dont work, since Im running an AMD proc.

I even looked at used Powerbooks about 6 months ago. The decent 12" ones were still going for $700-900+.

Same idea...Different target
There is no way Mac will price this to compete with the Eee. I have my Eee and I love it, but not enough to pay more than $500.

Alright that wasn't as exciting as previous Macworlds.
Time Capsul, (I don't quite get what this one does). Its like Airport Extreme with a had drive 2 versions: 500 GB version - $299, 1 TB $499
iPhone and iTouch have some new software (that they should have had when they came out. And they are going to charge $20 for iTouch software)
Macbook Air. Thinnest notebook on the market (can fit into a manila envelope). No optical drive (but has wireless ability to use optical drives from other computers), 80 gig hard drive (not flash based) Intel chip is 60% smaller. One usb 2.0 port. One min dvi port. 5 hour batter life. $1799 price tag
Apple TV take two, Apple TV to get update to play movies on Flat Panel TVs. New price of $229
Apple Movie rentals through iTunes (I personally think this is the biggest announcement) 30 days after DVD release. ALL MAJOR STUDIOS! 2.99-3.99 a rental. You have 30 days to watch it, but 24 hours once you start watching. Can transfer to ipods. HD rentals for $4.99
I know everyone gets excited about new hardware and junk, but movie rental I think will help continue Apple's dominance over the personal mp3/multimedia player market. Especially at those cheap rental prices.
Edit: HOW CAN I FORGET THE MOST INCREDIBLE AND INSANE PART OF THE KEYNOTE!!!

as a dell employee i caught the crap on 802.11n wireless card, best screen, and durabilty bs. Its really not all the impressive. what i do really like about those things is the backlit keyboards which looks very sweet and the multi-touch trackpad which looks simple enough and handy enough to actually be usable in every day life. for one pound more and a few hundred bucks less u can get a dell with the same specs but u'll also have a cd/dvd drive, 2 usb ports, and hdmi and s-video without an adapter. its the xps 1330 for whoever cares.

Yeah say it loud "I'm with Dell we don't care about durability" lol. For a couple hundred less then your Dell you can get the same thing marked HP. It's all down to what someone wants. Fact is for most the specs don't matter as much, if they want a Dell they will only go to Dell and if they want an Apple well Dell isn't going to change most of their minds. The desktops though are really a better deal then most think, if you spec out a Dell (not picking on you it's just the most comprable brand) they come out to roughly the same price, keeping in mind Dell doesn't do dual processors.
Before you think I am a Mac fanboy I should say the only thing I own is an Ipod that I picked up used. Instead of spending 2K or more on a Dell or Apple I spent 1K and built my own lol.

Yes, this is your opinion, but a little more justification usually is nice.
I personally, cant stand Macs, but that is mostly due to my ignorance in the systems. I never really worked with them before, and to this day, still dont really have the hands on that I want.
The couple of people I know who use them, they all work in Graphics Design, and in reality, there is not too much better on the market for that. Just sadly, if they ask me for help, I tend not to know wtf it is I am doing.

I wouldn't say that... But Mac has always been known as a graphics machine, so there the stereotype stays. Most of these kids out there building and using monster gaming machines have a machine that would do better than most companies standard Mac for graphic (3D or otherwise) and video manipulation.
Honestly, I think a lot of the graphic designers out there like the idea of needing something completely different from the rest of us, and the stereotype only propagates its use in the commercial sector.
Haha, I also just built a mac pro for 23k

yeah building your own is just more logical i think. pre-built systems are all over priced (usally) and you get a more reliable final product when you build your own without all the cheap crap they tend to throw in desktops to maximize there profit. goto new egg throw one together
a case, hard drive , ram, cpu , motherboard, power supply , vid card and a sound card if you really want one but most motherboards have a good enough one put in already . I got vista xp and im gonna try to dual boot vista with ubuntu but im 100% newb to linux lol

Yeah now if only I could build my own with dual quad core and have it actually be useful with windows.
