my rb20 s13 has a change of plans

i guess its time for me to start one of these. about 6 months ago i bought an 91 240sx hatch. i drove it for a while then realized its time for soemting new. i paid 1500 for the car and it drove great. i then purchased an sr20 long block for 300 dollars to build and install i then pulled the stock KA out and traded another user on here (240sxdan) for a blown SR. all the parts sat in my basement wait for me to stop being lazy and get a gasket set and put it all together. then 2 days ago i traded all the SR stuff i had for a running RB20DET with the harness and everything ready to go into my s13. now all ive got to do is get the motor mounts and im ready to start upgrading everything. ill get pictures soon

Looks like you have a good start. Keep us posted. If you need anything let me know we know the 240 very well here. Several of us have them that are fully built race cars. We have an inground dyno and top of the line alignment machine to get the car dialed in right. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

nice.. did u get motor from nate? wat type of motor mounts do u plan on using.. and far as the intake manis there arent alot of aftermarket ones for the 20.. theres a few custom ones. and i think theres a company called rips or something like that makes them for the 20... good luck with it and post pics up..

ok so i had a change of plans and cam across an s14 shell for a deal i couldnt pass up i i bought that and the RB is going in there heres some photos it was a georgia car and has no rust what so ever. the only thing needed to be done is the dent on the quater which ill take the cheap way out and just get some over fenders cause its goign to get smashed up anyway, so heres the photos

ur lucky to get a running rb with wiring harness and everything for some sr parts. i cant wait to start my project after i sell this car i have now.

yeah it was more than some sr parts it was basically a complete running motor that just needed to be put together. there was 2 long blocks and enough assorys for 1 and an sr actually costs more than an rb20 but i got a running engine for a non running one that i came out on top there.

haha im so confused on what im going to do right now people help me, im mad tight on money and i can basically put the RB in the s13 today, the s14 i would need to do the harness it doesnt have suspension or an exhaust and thats all alot more money than im trying to spend right now. ive already got suspension and an exhaust for the s13 so im thinking i might just put it in that and save the money i love s14's but i dont think this is the right time for one, when the s13's done than ill go back and do an s14 so the s14 is now for sale ahha

ok so i ended up trading the s14 for some cash and a clutch for my RB, i ordered top hat mounts last thursday and my idler and tensioner pulleys came the other day along with my greddy timing belt. im bringing the car home hopfully this weekend and putting the new harness in it. and hopfully next weekend drop the motor in, i was also in stop and shop today checking out talking to my friend about my car and the guy from the bank over heard me talking about my rb and called me over and he had an rb25 s13 that he got rid of but he said he still had a exhaust manifold with external wg. he said it was polish and i could have it for 100 bucks, im assuming its going to be ssautocrome but still for 100 i dont have to buy an entire new one to externally wastegate it. should be updating alot soon. the s14 has a new home over and s-max intercoolers.

got a new mercedes for a daily driver so ive been able to get down to my alot more latly. harness should be going in real soon and then followed by the motor next weekend. i was gunna do it this weekend but i decided to be stupid and come out to philly to ride bicycles lol. hgopfully ill get the motor in and mounted up by this weekend

I'm a response fan, so a nice SR + 2871r .64 is my weapon of choice....I guess growing up 'v8' has spoiled me into wanting my cars to all have v8'ish' response off the bat...I just can't stand waiting....which is why I like my 4.60 rear I just put in too :D

ive done alot of work since i posted on here i figured id give it an update. i lost my job so the project stopped for a while but now that ive got a new one ive done a bunch to it. first of all i rattle can'd the entire car ultra flat black, got 5 spoke jdm advans. veilside 3 inch turbo back, some d2 coilovers. the car is looking so much better than it did at first im really stoked. ill post pictures as soon as i get home tomorrow. as to the guys above me i know the sr and rb come stock with the same horsepower numbers but the rb is completly different. i guess its almost like comparing a 4g63 to a sti engine. the both come with around the same power but people have preferences and for me i cant get over the rb sound. im not getting into this though everyones got different preferences
