Is this stock or modded?

The clutch on the Evos are on the soft side (probably to protect the transfer case) so if you’ve got a heavy foot they won’t last too long. Exedy and ACT are pretty popular – if you’re stock you shouldn’t need anything more than a 2300lb clamping force.

Agreed that the stock clutches are pretty crappy. Not unheard of for them to go out with under 20k on the ticker.

What kind of power goals and intent do you have for the car?

Then skip right to the good stuff because the job is a bitch. Quarter Master twin disc. On sale at JNZ Tuning right now actually. Do it once and do it right for that kind of HP goal.

If you want 500whp get the ATS twin carbon. DO NOT get an act clutch, for some reason they lock in higher rpms on evos.

That's the first time I heard any thing bad about act

act is a great company, but they need to work on their clutch for evos.

There is nothing wrong with the ACT clutch in the EVO if used for the proper application. High rpm high hp have no business using a single heavy single kit anymore.

I'm just trying to prevent someone else from having the same problems that I had with my act clutch when I had an evo.

Call Eric at JNZ to get a total price and to see when they could do it. I'd also talk to him about streetability issues if this is your daily driver. You may want to talk to Chris while your on the phone with JNZ to see if he got his installed in his Evo yet. I'm dying to drive a DSM with one installed so i can get a feel for how it engages under normal driving conditions.

Chris hasn't installed his yet. It sleeps under his desk at work for now.

BEst clutch by FAR is exedy twin disc, act has high rpm lockout issues. If I were you I'd buy another stocker because if you toasted that one in 16k you may break something with a stronger clutch.

Look on EvoM for reviews of the Exedy vs QM.
