yeah seriously people can talk all the crap they want about the spec v but i love mine wayyyyyy to much to get rid of it, i plan on doing a build and turbo soon. total sleeper car

I will fully admit that the Spec V is not the greatest car out there, I have no disillusions. Not the fastest, not the best handling, but pretty good at most everything (balanced) and definitely very fun to drive...and all on a budget. For whatever reason I have a very strong emotional attachment to the car, I really don't want to get rid of it. After driving it for 5+ years and putting all the thought and work into it that I have, I don't want to get rid of it. Also from an autocross perspective, I've completely revamped the suspension and wheel/tire package to something that I feel has a real shot at being competitive. I can't walk away from it without giving it a solid try...plus it's fun to beat people in a...Sentra? :mrgreen:

As an example of my attachment, I've got a thing for S2000's lately. I REALLY want one. My wife said I could go buy one as long as I got rid of my "yellow piece of crap car". She HATES my car. But alas, I just can't bear to get rid of it. :wink:

yeah i agree with you...ive had mine for only a year and half and i dont even think about getting rid of it...buying a 2nd care dif story..but yes the car it self is very balanced out...even on the stock suspension i feel mine handles pretty well on the back roads...but for autox yeah you'll need the upgrades

to jump in i as well dont think the spec is outstanding in particular individual catagories, but the car is a balanced performer, and surprises me when i least expect it....i love my car and couldnt sell it unless i got a **** load of money from someone far far away so i would never see it again lol.....but ive enjoyed it for the 42k miles ive owned it since july 06

Just a lot of people have 0% knowledge of one, but have the money, so they buy a kit, take it to some "tuner" that still thinks a SE-R has an SR20, things get messed up, and they then spend all day posting on the forums going "Why ain't my **** working?!?" and then they get all pissed, sell the car, and continue to badmouth it and spread all sorts of untruthful lies about what happens when you turbo a Spec V.

Research is a friend, and a lot more people just need to put in the research before making the leap. You see 3 basic groups of people with turbo Spec Vs: 1)the group that has their stuff together and are doing insane things very smartly... the "untouchables" or the "elitists" like they're called on some forums 2)general people that did a bit of research, still don't know a lot, but still have successful turbo times and have fun and whatever, and 3)the complete dumbasses that shouldn't be allowed to have a cold air intake, let alone a turbo kit.

My advice... don't buy an Ebay kit. :)

lol believe me ive done the research, wouldnt do the ebay kit not worth it at all if i like having a blown up car the first time i hit boost.lol.

im taking my time with the whole thing to learn about things im still not sure about...i dont plan on doing a crazy build of any sort, just boost the spec RIGHT and have a daily setting of 5lbs and a secondary of 7lbs. I dont need anymore than that....esp since im not really a racer i probably wouldnt use 7lbs ever...except for a little more fun once and a while.

I still have the Rockford system as well, but one of the deck speaker is blown I think.. That's why I've been thinking about upgrading the whole entire stereo system. That's why I have tons of questions..
As for mods..I attempted to put my entire mod list in the sig, but it won't fit..

It's a long list, some mods, some maintance stuff and stupid crap...
I didn't realized that I have spend that much money on this fricken car.. But the sad part is that I'm not finish yet..
I have to fight my conscience to stop putting anymore money in this car, but my wallet loses everytime.

damn thats a like a f@&%^ book dude! lol but honestly, the aftermarket parts that are non nismo are much better, IE: Tein SS coils or JIC FLA2 coils, greddy makes a 4 point lower tie bar, b&m makes a short shifrter, not sure about the sway bars, i know eibach makes a front and rear kit. and JWT cams over the nismo cams.

that's BS they're feeding you. Consult 2 is the only way you can get it raised.

gutting the pre-cat, i think you can do it, its the cat itself that you cant, as far as throwing codes, i have no idea

Yes. You will either need to put an O2 simulator on the second oxygen sensor, or relocate it behind the second cat (middle of the car).

Edit: People have also used spark plug anti-foulers as a ghetto O2 simulator.

I would say that you wouldn't want to bring a spec in for warranty service with a gutted cat. Especially if they are trying to determine the cause of oil consumption (which is most likely caused by the pre-cat). If they see you gutted it, then they could say that you left pieces of the cat in the manifold, they were sucked into the engine causing the damage. You can fight these claims, but you are better off getting a header that just replaces the manifold (Like Nismo's uncatted one) and swapping that for the factory manifold if you need service done.

A general rule of thumb with any dealership is don't give them a reason to think you caused a problem.

I dunno about now but my Spec went through 3 motors in the time I had it and all under 36k. Mine was also an early build 02 but I brought it in for its last motor with an Injen CAI, Megan Racing Header, MR catless DP, and custom CBE, and got a new motor. As far as I know Nissan knows and doesnt care that these motors kinda suck. Dont get me wrong I miss mine still but dont count out warranty. Honestly though, Precat break up isnt as common as people make them out to be, You have to remember that no only does your spec v have the QR25de, but so does the altima and there are way more altimas running on the road than Spec vs all with no problems. Save some money and buy a header there has to be a million of them out now. My MR cost me 200 shipped back when they first came out.

im on my 2nd without a header got the motor replaced at 54k in like november 06 and now have 96k on the car......i drive it alot lol and havent had any problems since the motor was replaced....im actually hoping i get another motor under warranty before my warranty is up lol.....

yeah thats really odd that they have no idea what it is. i know PS pumps like to make a loud winning noise but thats only when low on fluid.

TurboV, you wouldnt happen to know the the correct wiring secquence for the safc2 install would you? the wiring diagram i found on myspec is confusing esp the part about pin 72 and everyone sayin its upside down, im having a tough time with mine, after the install the car ran like it was throwing multiple engine misfire and MAF low input and ran rich as hell, to the point that you could smell straight gas from the exhaust? any idea? or have the schematic for the thing....

Which is my point of coming here... heh. The server committed suicide about 6 hours ago (it had been slowly dying for a week or so now, hence why the banner pics were all messed up), and Myspecv.com has been down, along with any other gurov site like his photos, my photos, sradd.org, spoiledbengal, etc. It should be up in about 4-5 hours, as gurov working hard at transferring/restoring everything to a brand new server that he got a few weeks back. yeah i was having some problems and i figured to give it a shot, and got that. i got the car back already, i caught the problem early before it had time to destroy my engine. but they did leak down test, compression test and everytthing is running fine. although, my pre-cat is wasted. thats next to go

Just throwing this out there but a lot of cars meet up at the Chuck-E-Cheeses & Marshalls parking lot on the Roosevelt Boulevard across the street from from Red Lobster. I've only seen 2 or 3 B15's in the 3 weeks I've been going. I dont have my spec anymore but its open to all cars. If the cops usually come around 10:30ish and everyone drives up the blvd to the wawa a little bit before the exit for Street Road. I may be going this weekend also.

damn jspecv.... i just did mine last weekend, passenger side screws were mad loose, i got some loctite and tightened them really tight. Now all i have left is that gasket that sometimes failes, but beside that my motor is now safe!

But as far as the meet goes, doesn't matter to me what weekend it is, i'm in for it!

Yea.. so I went up there last night, and ofcourse it started to rain again. A couple of guys showed up.. a burned orange 04-06, black 04-06, light grey 00-03 wingless SE with rims and exhaust, couple of civics, a rsx, and a jeep.

It was kinda awkward, cause they all seem to know each other, and I was the only outsider. I did briefly talked with the guy in the black 04-06 then it started to pour.. Somehow I felt like I was crashing their meet.

But I got some Sonic, so it was all worth the drive up there..

That parking lot is kinda packed for a "big" meet... just with the few that showed last night, we basically took up the only free spaces available.

How about doing a SpecV meet at Wendy's on cityline ave. (same lot where applebee's is at) on a fri or sat night (when the lot basically clears out around 9pm)?? It should be ok there, as long as people attending don't rev their engines to show-off or do peel-outs like a bowl of rice..
