i've been with at&t for a few years now and its been on and off problems. from all my calls going straight to voicemail, to not getting any messages (voicemail or text). well with my newer phone it seems to be less problems but lately the phones gettin worse and worse. it hasnt started call forwarding but im getting texts up to two hours later and im about to start shopping around for a new carrier.

i was thinking of a t-mobile sidekick or maybe switching to verizon and getting the new touch screen phone. thing is i work alot, and cant walk around with my phone on my ear all day so most gets cut down to text messaging so i need somethin that'll have a good message plan plus a phone thats easy to txt on. just wondering who you guys have and any problems at all with your service??

I have AT&T for personal and work service. I am the same as you since can't be talking on my phone all day so I talk with my GF by text messaging. I have been through three phones and she has been through two since we have been together. I am convinced that lost text messages are due to AT&T and not the phone. Data on my work phone has been good lately. There are usually a good amount of outages in this area though.

If I was going to move to a different carrier, it would be to Verizon. T-mobile does not have a good reputation around this area. I live about 10-15 minutes from Philadelphia and I have several friends on T-Mobile that get either little or no signal in their house (where AT&T has 4 bars). To me, being close to a major city, there should be good coverage, but even T-Mobile's site shows a lot of low/no signal places. A plus for T-Mobile is their messaging/data plans seem to be dirt cheap compared to other carriers.

Good luck!

I have t-mobile.....NEVER had a problem yet and I've had it for about 5 years now. Also they have great customer service

most providers will give you a week or 2 trial period. try all of them until you find one that suits your needs. thats what my friend did, he ended up with cingular/att. most people i know with tmobile arent too happy with the service. my friend with tmobile gets text messages super late. i have verizon with a treo running windows mobile, before that i had the vx8900(the v). I havent had any issues at all in the past 3 years.

I switched to singular over a year ago from tmobile. I was tired of not having any service at work at home, and half the time I was on the road. Cingular works 100% better for me in my area. The only thing I miss about tmobile is the $25/month it cost me vs the $45 I'm paying now.

T-mobile for me. We have been with them for a few years, and like said, customer service is great. Had a problem with my dash, called them, we tried to troubleshoot it, didnt work, so I got a new one for free 2 days later in the mail, and it works like a charm (even though these phones are known to be fiddly).

Reception is good, dropped calls usually occur when I am calling someone else and they have crappy service from another provider lol. The prices are pretty good as well, texting and such is cheaper with cingulair (or whoever they are now), and verizon, but that doesnt bother me much...some other carriers have some cooler phones too but my main thing is to be able to talk, and have a GOOD phone, not a toy, so I like them just fine.

I work for Helio, so I have the Helio Ocean... amazing dual slider qwerty keyboard phone. We are on the Verizon/Sprint 3G network.. so connection is amazing everywhere.... I love my phone... blows Verizon out of the water.

I have sprint since high school (7 years). Few problems here and their, but nothing major. I would reccomend them. Their main highlight is it only cost you five bucks if you go over your limit, so long as you don't go over hundred minutes extra.
I also had t-mobile and didn't like them. And I live out in the country and sprint gets the best reception.

Been on Verizon since 2002.... love it. I have the V now.... paying $65 a month for unlimited text, 400 minutes, free nights/weekends... Looking at either the Voyager (new LG touch screen one) or one of the new PDA phones that just came out

My plan is 65 a month for unlimited internet and text, 500 minutes, free nights/weekends... it's perfect because I use the internet a lot and text.. usually don't use the minutes as much.

Yea...... i barely use minutes on my cell.... but use a TON of text. I dont have data.... so that doesnt get used too much.

I have been with sprint for over 12 years now. I can say nothing bad about them until you need to call. My service works anywhere I have ever wanted it to. Anywhere from 10,000 ft to my basement. In those 12 years or so I can only say twice that a txt has been lost somewhere and that was me to another carrier, so who knows who is to blame. The only downside is sprint really doesn't have any cool phones but they are all functional.

T- Mobile service in DE is just terrible though, espically down towards Dover. That, and half their phones to me are just getting to be too "trendy" and too much of a status symbol. I cant stand when im typing in a text into my V, and people come running to me asking if its a Sidekick.

From my experience here at Helio, I get a lot of people complaining and transferring to Helio from Cingular/AT&T and nextel because of service and dropping calls, and people complaining about Verizon and Sprint because of lack of good customer service and being overcharged.

That's a big selling point for me. I choose AT&T because they seem to be the better GSM provider in the states and because I can get just about any GSM phone I want, pop my SIM card in, and be off. I'm not just tied to whatever AT&T decides to sell. Maybe with Verizon opening up their network the CDMA people will start to see a wider variety of phones.

I have been on T-mobile for about 5 years with little to no problems. Love my new RIZR and my reception is very very good in the Bucks Co. area.

Had Nextel prior to this and hated every minute of it.

I feel your pain.

DropTEL has been giving me issues even more ever since Sprint bought them out. It's just horrible, and SMS takes for freakin ever.

I've already tried other company's (Tmobile = no service, AT&T ****ed up our landline service years ago, so I can't trust their cell), and I'm dead set on Verizon...and a Voyager.

Now, just need 500 bucks...200 to drop my nextel contract (Really, I've been with them for 4 or 5 years, this sucks), and 300 for verizon voyager. It'll be worth it.

I'm really going to miss the direct connect though.

i work at tmobile in the pda/blackberry tech department and most of the problems are people calling to get replacement phones with no questions asked...fixing the phone is our job...people just expect to get everything for nothing w/o even trying to fix the problem...70% of the time, replacing the phone does nothing...

tmobile reception blows (check the coverage map for your area on T-Mobile.com like the contract says)...but has the best customer service in the country 6 years running (who's counting). really good data/text plans...its like $20/month with no voice...so if you text and go online a lot without all the calls, thats for you...pretty sweet phones too...check out the blackberry curve...free calling anywhere in the planet when connected to wifi...keep it on the DL, trying not to let the "public" know about this billing flaw...

I have AT&T. I've had it since it was the original AT&T, like in 2003. I love it, and I never have any major problems. The phones are awesome, and you can buy almost any GSM phone you want (unlocked) and use it, the plus of a sim card. I have the AT&T Tilt, and its an awesome phone. The only problem I have is lagging texts when receiving from Verizon. it seems like a problem between Verizon and GSM carriers, 'cause it does the same thing to T-Mobile customers.

Funny you say that because i was actually looking into gettin the Tilt. and the text problem your talkin about with verizon sounds familiar too, my girl is on verizon and im always havin problems gettin her texts.

From doug's recommendation im thinkin about switchin over to helio and gettin an ocean. seems like ya cant beat the plans and i like the phone from looks so far. anyone else have any experience with them?

No prob Kev.. we are usually 5-15 dollars cheaper than competitors on monthly bills, and we're on the Verizon and Sprint 3G network, so you get amazing coverage and good internet everywhere. (I haven't lost service or dropped a call yet) So definitely check us out.. if anyone has questions feel free to PM me.... and I'll help you save some money.

I haven't experienced any text lag with any of my friends, a few are on T-Mobile, and my girlfriend is on Cingular/AT&T and they receive my texts right away, and I receive them right away... with the ocean it is almost like an AIM conversation it is so fast. (It even has built in AIM)

I have t-mobile and can't complain a bit. I do pay like $74 a month for my fav's and unlimited texting. I'm thinking of upping the anty and getting a t-mobile wing. touchscreen and it slides open to havea full qwerty keyboard.

haven't really looked into helio though. might give'r a look before I renew my contract

Yeah man.. definitely take a look, I dropped my Verizon contract like a bad habit as soon as I realized the potential of the Ocean, and the cheap monthly bill. I paid the 175 dollar termination fee from Verizon.. lol. I'm really happy with my ocean. PM'ed ya back.

I've had Sprint since like 1998. The phone choice is limited, but getting better. The only reason to get Sprint IMO is that they have the fastest wireless data network. Surfing the internet on my Moto Q with Sprint is equivalent to like a DSL connection. It's also pretty cheap with unlimited data for $15 a month.

I have t-Mobile at work and while the service itself is OK, the coverage isn't the best. Frequently I'll be somewhere in Philly and my Sprint phone is at full strength while the t-Mobile phone is hunting for a signal.

I have been considering a switch to Verizon. From what I've seen and heard, they have the best service and phones.

Right, we are on the same 3G network Verizon/Sprint/Helio.. and it is just like a DSL connection.
