JOHNSTOWN, Colo. - Two teens have been charged with killing the 7-year-old sister of one of them by beating her with imitations of moves from the "Mortal Kombat" video game, prosecutors said.

Lamar Roberts, 17, and Heather Trujillo, 16, were charged as adults on one count each of felony child abuse causing death, state prosecutor Robert Miller said in court documents released Wednesday and filed a day earlier.

According to a police affidavit, the teens were baby-sitting Trujillo's half-sister, Zoe Garcia, on Dec. 6 while the girl's mother was at work. Zoe lost consciousness and stopped breathing after the teens hit, kicked and body-slammed her, imitating moves used in the video game, the document said.

Trujillo and Roberts tried reviving the girl by putting her under running water and attempting CPR before they called her mother and 911, the affidavits stated. The girl died at a hospital.

An autopsy showed she had a broken wrist, more than 20 bruises, swelling of the brain, and bleeding in her neck muscles and under her spine, the affidavits said.

There were no listed phone numbers in the Weld County directory for either Roberts' mother, Linda Clark, or Trujillo's, Dana Trujillo. Sheriff's spokeswoman Margie Martinez said late Wednesday that she did not know whether either teen had an attorney. The teens were being held at the Weld County jail but were not permitted to accept phone calls, Martinez said.

Roberts said he was downstairs playing video games while the sisters wrestled upstairs, police said. But a witness quoted in the affidavit said Roberts told her he had kicked the girl.

The witness told police that Roberts said Zoe had told them to stop wrestling. According to the affidavit, when the witness asked why they didn't stop, he responded, "I don't know; I was drunk."

If convicted, the teens could be sentenced to 48 years in prison.

I highly doubt this is the 1st time that her older sister hit her. Probably has been going on and just progressed to this. Either way, they deserve to rot in jail until they die.

Thanks.

You can't blame this on the video games. Those kids are old enough to know right from wrong.

As I always say when the video game arguement comes into play....
If the person is normal in the head, then it doesn't matter how violent the game may be, it isn't going to cause them to act out what they do in the game. You have to be already ****ed in the head to take a video game and imitate it in real life.

video games are not out of hand....whats out of hand is that they are still imitating mortal combat at the ages of 16 and 17 thinking its cool to practice it on a 7 year old.....

I can't even begin to describe the difference between imagining hearing the phrase "finish him" then pulling someone's spine out and taking the life of an innocent 7 year old. There's a line between thinking about doing something and doing it. And this line is NOT a fine line. Most people by far are "guilty" of thoughts of violence, but taking action is a whole nother story.

Taking action is criminal.

There are no words.

This is so God Damn stupid...

A) What does Mortal Kombat have to do with abusing a little sister?

B) Where were the parents when this happened the first handful of times (and don't give me that "It doesn't say it's happened before" liberal pussy bull**** because you KNOW it has.)

C) Someone should just beat the piss out of them until they go the same way.

Eye for an eye.

Suck it.

can someone just tell me what move he did?

Kevin

can someone just tell me what move he did?

He does the ground pound. Where he punches the ground and it knocks you off balance and hurts you.

The back breaker. Where he puts you on his shoulder and goes down on a knee, cracking your spine.

The other stupid moves like that.

Then there is his fatalities, which are pretty good ones:

Head Clap: Where he claps his hands violently over his opponent's head, crushing it.

http://sydlexia.com/imagesandstuff/mk2/mk20384.png

Arm Rip: Where he grabs the opponent's arms and rips them from their body.

Last one is where he turns his arms into blades like baraka and dices up the guy.

I socked my sister so hard one day cause she tried to steal my clipboard. Probably about that same age.

Gave her a bloody nose and a black eye from one punch....she stopped trying to take my clipboard though!

I still have it too.

16 and 17.....they KNEW what they were doing and how hard they should and physically could strike a 6 year old before SERIOUS damage would be done.....they were TRYING to HURT her, not imitating a video game...everyone has smacked around a little sibling but nothing that ever came close to brain swelling and broken bones...
