View Full Version : Possible new FS forum rule to keep down clutter

I've noticed a trend of some user's FS threads taking up most of the first page of sales. I was thinking it would drastically cut down on the need to bump your thread if each user is limited to having one FS thread per forum of course (one for personal, one for car).

I'm sure I'm guilty of multiple fs threads myself, out of pure laziness, but since we can edit our own thread titles, I think it would make the FS forum much more accessible to all users and not just ones who love to bump their threads (which once again, I am guilty of doing...).

I don't see any problems this would create other than people having to merge their FS threads into one.

ANyone else think this would be a good idea?

I think I would make the limit higher, more like 2, only because sometimes people are selling two things that are fairly different. For instance someone selling a fish tank and a turbo.

I don't see the point.

Didn't know space was an issue.

Space isn't an issue. It is easier for a buyer to find items they want when the thread is properly worded for each product instead of a single for sale thread for everything. And the moderators would go insane trying to find duplicate threads.

one bump per day.

cant bump if your still on the top page.

I nominate those rules.

I'm all for that. Seeing something getting bumped every 2 hours can be a little much.

You could do it like the S2000 forums. Only members can sell, membership cost 20 dollars a year.

it would be annoying for me to have to keep finding my own FS thread and keep changing it

It would be one FS thread at a time. So if you're selling a few parts and they get sold, you can start a new thread. It's just if you are adding new parts for sale to use the current thread, so you're not bumping 3 or 4 of your own different threads. NASIOC employs a system like this and it works well.

I still think the 1 bump/day is the best idea.

i agree with this rule....along with if someone is selling a car....they must have pictures. i can't stand it when people try to sell a car with no pics. the only thing that happens is people respond by saying PICS???? its annoying

A new thread for different parts shouldnt be needed. SImply a title stating, "fishtank and turbo for sale" would suffice and I doubt people wouldnt notice that both are for sale....

I think self control and reporting would help with keeping a rule such as this enforced since other members selling items that they can't keep on the first page get annoyed quickly I'm sure.

I totally agree...or when people say "email for pix" and people end up posting their emails instead...its not that hard to go to imageshack.us and take 5 seconds to host a pic
