hey subaru guys,
looks like one of my tires is mysteriously leaking. took it to a shop today and the guy there really took care of me. he repatched a plug, replaced the valvestem, and remounted and balanced it for me... however, it still seems to be losing air. i have no idea what it is and neither does he, but at this point i'm looking to replace the tire if i can.
my tires have 80% tread probably so ideally i'd want something in that range. i also cant justify spending much on it at all. if someone has one they'd like to exchange for a 12 pack or something please let me know. if i dont find anything i guess i'll just fill it up weekly for the next month then switch to my summer set. i'm in langhorne, pa by the way.
thanks,
bryan

He didn't have a dunk tank?? :(

Most of those leaks can be found with some water while the tire is off the car. You can do it yourself with a wet sponge but it takes a bit longer. Filler up to 50 psi and find your leak ;). What kind of wheel weights does it have? A lot of those leaks will often come from a wheel weight being improperly clamped on. It'll put pressure on the sidewall and with high enough psi, leak out. I thought you had it with the valve stem. If not I'd look at the weights next. Theres not a lot of places the air can go. :(

yeah well i thought about that... he had a dunk tank but the tire only had 20psi in it when he put it in there, unless he filled it up while i wasnt looking. i'm really not sure on that one... but yeah it would be easier to just fix this one and hold onto it so if its low again tomorrow when i check it i'll call and see if he dunked it with high psi or not.

80% tread life left too? If it is in fact the tire I wouldn't be surprised if some kind of warranty covers it. If not suby's, bridgestones. That may take a few strings pulled though. :(

thanks aaron, i'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow and check the pressure. its only down a little bit since he tried to fix it today so i'm crossing my fingers its just a temperature difference, but i'm skeptical. if thats not it i'll call the tire place again to ask them what they think. if i could get a new one free that would be cool too :)
