Try with some BIG numbers.
I tried up to 8 and it was correct every time.

wtf...
I just did it and he guess wrong. He guessed that I picked a 3 and I did not.
Edit - And here is how it works
The trick is actually based on the mathematical oddity that the integers 1 through 9, when added up, are divisible by 9, therefore making all numbers of a jumbled numerical combination predictable based on which integers are revealed. The program only needs to add a number to the numbers you have entered so that the sum is divisible by 9 in order to come up with the right number.
So in other words lets say I chose 6423 then my second number is 3246. Subtract as he says and it = 3177. Now I circle 1, so I'm left with the digits 377. Put them in any way you like so enter 737. 7+3+7=17. 17 is NOT divisible by 9, but by adding a 1, you get 18, and that can be divided by 9. So hence the program knows you picked 1.

it got mine wrong too! it said I picked 2, when i picked 8-so there!
It said I picked 6 when I picked 3.
Edit: I did it wrong, thats why...but I understand how it works now.

I already posted the solution....

He wants to find a way to beat the thing.
I'm just about positive you can't. I did it wrong in my 1st post which is why it got it wrong. Once I got a minute (I'm at work) I redid it.
Based on the rules that it stipulates, it basically forces you to enter numbers that will work. Which is why it tells you that you cannot use the 0.

Basically its just a stupid trick.
