damnit phils. i had a feeling they werent going to sign him. they were talking about not signing him long before the end of the season. im pissed about it anyway but hopefully they do something good in light of this instead of wasting the opportunity to keep him

what a waste. they need to get owners that "actually" spend money in there. instead of getting no name **** heads. god i ****ing hate the phillies sometimes. i just want to go down there and ****ing slap them silly. why do we always sign joe schmo instead of keeping someone we need and actually brings something to this team instead of 8.00 era or .200 batting avg. and then we trade away stars and get nothign for them or what we do get for them, a couple of years later they are gone so making that trade worthless on our part. **** philly sports sometimes. we need owners who ****ing spend money like the yankees and red sox and actually try to keep the big players.

Am I the only one that didnt want to be tied in to Aaron Rowand for 5 years?

we need ed wade back. he is spending money like crazy with the astros. they just got tejada. **** the phillies for not making moves.

oh and can philly ever be dedicated to win the world series? **** no.

Well let's not pretend like Tejada may be 2 years removed from relevance. He's losing range, not to mention his bat isn't as "poppy" as it used to be. And Ed Wade did fine signing people like Pat Burrell to long term deals.
yea we just lost a true ballplayer damn

Is everyone forgetting Rowand only got hot at the end of the year? We have a good Center feilder still (his name escapes me at the moment) and I don't think we'll really miss him much once the season gets under way.

He ran into a fence and broke his face for us........
I liked him.

damnit i knew that would happen...come on here we get rid of him and keep Burrell..no offense hes a solid player but no where near as valuable as Rowand was to us. He was Philly's Jim Edmonds the way he played and even if he went 0-4 he made up for it in the field saving runs...Damn you Phillie's mgmt.

Dammint! We should have let Pat go, actually we should have let Pat go last season...
...so who's gonna be in the outfield now? It's Pat, Victorino and who else?

idk we traded bourne i think and lost that kid costanza who supposedly was a great porspect in the minors and now we lose a potential great 3rd baseman for the future

I think Victorino will shift to center and Werth will play right. It sucks he left, he had Philly heart. You know what is next though, the announcing of a huge pay increase for Howard.

Michael borne?
That's it. Last I remember he's still with us and he's a damn good player too.

What you think we got Brad Lidge for a sandwich? lol
I can understand the move of the Phillies. Aaron is 30, going on 31 soon. Giving him 5 years at that kind of money (when you need pitching) is not a good idea. And whoever said Aaron Rowand was only hot at the end of the year is on drugs. He had a strong year, all year. I love Rowand, I wish they signed him to 3 years.. but they didn't want to over pay, when we have Victorino (strongest arm in the outfield, most assists) and Werth.. both young and strong ball players.

Rowand certainly didn't play to his own standards until the latter end of the year, as is true with most of the Phillies team as a whole. Can't deny that one.

Where were you all season? Rowand sizzled in the beginning of the season at the plate, and in the field.. he had a .370+ average. He started declining to a .280 (which brought him down to the lower .300's for the rest of the season) average right before the all star break, and after it. He ended up with I believe a .310 average at the end of the season.

.306 i thought lol
Sorry, I'm not a human encyclopedia of baseball knowledge... I just remember Rowand being one of the top batters in the league early in the season.

The philies are the cheapest team when the mention picking up players all they think about is their budget. They could care less if they win or not because they are making so much money either way.

Damn right! I would have kept Rowan over Werth. It should be Rowan, Victorino and Bourne in the outfield! And who do we really have pitchingwise? Jaime, the young guy(can't remember his name, dark hair) and Myers and Spanish guy (closers). All the other "super" pitchers we had all got crippled during the season. [Sorry about not remembering names...it's football season ;) ]

Being as I missed Bourne being traded and think Rowand is overrated, probably not really as into it as I thought.:o
haha.. no big.. baseball seasons are so long they are hard to keep up with. I watched and attended most of the games this year.. so I'm all about it.

hahaha i loved it when in the interview with the phillies owner on i believe sportnight he said that they arent cheap. that is such crap. go sign another joe schmo with a ****ty era you dumb rich ****. sorry but this **** really pisses me off. every year we sign no one when we need something big. i thought that **** was going to change the year when they signed thome and bell. bell ended up being a bust and then we get rid of thome for a good reason, but i thought after that year, hey maybe they arent cheap and will start spending money for the big name player. nope not at all. that was just a fluke.

Plain and simple: you gotta pay to play...or pay to get players!
