Just need some opinions. He seems like a crook but before I post something on the boards as a lookout for him, and advise members to stay away, I want to be sure of my assumption

why go that far? It won't do any good if they're a scammer anyway

Yea, but at least it may help keep others away
Just sent him/her this, once I get my answer I can post a lookout thread
ME:
Actually, send me your Name, address, phone number, etc. so I can get an accurate shipping quote and give you a call when I get it..im not on this site very often, so it will be quicker and easier for both of us. Do you have any other payment methods you suggest??

Not sure...it just seems like they don't understand, i.e: "I need all set", "i need shocks absorber" Then they're saying that they need shocks and springs...I'm getting a headache....

How does this seem like a scam?
I get PM's like that all day everyday on Zilvia, I dont think every noob over there is out to scam me.
Just like any other sale, get your money, make sure it clears, then send the item.
We dont need a Hardy Boys episode because some guy wants to make sure the parts will work for his car.
The guy may not have an idea of what the suspension consists of, but then most noobs dont. Doesnt make him a scammer.

if he mails you a money order then your fine. dont ever take a personal check unless you know the person and i personally dont like paypal because that too can be canceled like a credit card. sounds fine to me just get the money then ship

i think he's just an idiot, get a shipping quote, make them send you a money order for your asking price plus the shipping quote, and then send it out.

Do not except money orders or certified checks!!! There is alot of people who have gotten counterfeit ones. If he sends you one, bring it to ur bank and tell the manager to make sure it is real, and also you have a witness when it comes back fake so they don't take u to court. Paypal is free to sign up. If he doesn't like it o well. But atleast you know you are safe. Better safe then sorry i say. Good luck with the sale

LOL, paypal is as large of a risk anymore than money orders... why would you say don't do the money orders or certified checks?
Pay Pal will only get you your money back if the money is still in their account... if they already transferred it to their account (what takes 3 days? which is WAY before you would even figure it was a scam). Then you are screwed.
At least you can explain to the potential customer like I do and tell them "Hey, I like to sit a week or two on money orders due to all the scamming lately and false checks. Please be patient and if/when it clears, I will contact you and ship the parts out the following day."
Everybody I have sold parts to have been understanding. I have done many transactions through pay-pal but I now also accept pay-pal. I ALWAYS wait until the money clears regardless.

valid point but if you only accept certified paypal accounts then your good no matter what, cause it is linked to a bank directly. Then if something happened they have something to go off of. Maybe i am wrong but that seems pretty secure, right?
