View Full Version : Saabs
Any other saab addicts in here? I know there are quite a few in the area, but are there any on here? 95% of saabs in the philly area are driven by soccer moms which kinda surprises me...

yeah i drive a Viggen... Where your from Roto? im right around king of prussia, nice to see another Saaber pop up on here
I'm from NE Philly, any way I could check out the Vig? I've been on the lookout for one, but they're impossible to find in good condition. (Not killed or sludged that is). And I can see that Raven is known for his saab...wonder if there's a story behind that.

Why would that suprise you :-p
Why would that suprise you :-p
let's see...a rather well powered car with tons of options and cheap parts...and many of them with manual transmissions... I picked my up cheaper than I picked up my first civic...

Thanks. It's pretty much stock. The previous owner had the BBS 2 piece wheels and Saab Sport Exhaust put on. I'll have more in the future.
I don't have much to my done either...trying to keep the car STX legal otherwise I'd be killed even more in SM than I get killed in STX now :-D

yeah i wouldnt mind showing you the car, mine's not in the BEST condition but i keep it real clean, i really need to get the front bumper and hood re-done for it to be perfect those damn rock chips suck.. if your looking to make it pretty quick i would suggest looking at genuinesaab.com or if you have any problems with it to check out saablink.net or saabnet.com both good websites for diy things and repairs
I know of pretty much every possible saab resourse around. I run one of the saab forums (not a well known one, but there are enough issues discussed there for me to know them) and I've got the WIS. Some of my mods are: GS 3" DP, koni sport kit, 1" GS RARB and other misc crap... and you can say that again about them rock chips...I've got plenty of those too...

nice how do you like the ride on the koni sport kit? im going to order the koni sport springs and adjustable shocks off of genuinesaab.com, im goin to install them in the sppring so the viggen bumper isnt a snowplow for the winter haha
I love them....I do get some rubbing on full soft when I forget that I'm not adjusted for autocross and try to tackle hard turnes. BEST suspension I've ever had on a street car. On full soft it is very close to stock ride and when I kick the rear end to full stiff I even get a bit of oversteer...haven't had achance to try these out at an autocross, but I'm back in there as soon as the season starts again.

Found it! .........Yeah, school and work owns me, I'm on TST like once a month now. :(
Yeah, my story is I'm known for picking fights with all the subaru owners saying that SAAB builds a better, faster engine and overall car. And although they'll never admit it, I've got several STi kills from a roll. :-p
My car, I've got a 2001 9-5 Aero, factory freak that makes 235 whp and 240 wtq in 4th (.89 overdrive). I've got Eibach pro-kit springs with Bilstein Sport shocks, which I love, but I'm thinking about stiffer sway bars. I haven't upgraded the power, mostly cause the B235R is pretty well tuned from the factory and if I want more, everything gives up at 300 hp, (turbo, fuel, intercooler, pistons, etc.) Right now my next upgrade I've got planned is a new clutch and a gear box rebuild with updated synchros and a LSD.
Right now my next upgrade I've got planned is a new clutch and a gear box rebuild with updated synchros and a LSD.
You can say that one again...I'll be rebuilding a box with crytreated internals and an LSD over the winter (or so I hope). In autocross having a messed up third gear doesn't matter, but damn do I miss my third gear...
Raven18940
12-11-2007, 10:55 AM
Third is my favorite cause that's when I can finally put down full power. Then there's the nice, close-ratio 3-4 shift, 60-135 is just such a joy. :)

12-11-2007, 12:42 PM
oh yes... 3rd-4th gears make me smile  .....alot
hopefully i dont rub too much, what setting do you think are the best, i read so many different things that people like but the most ive seen is like 75% stiff on the back and 50% on the front
When I'm in a pissy mood I'm at 45% stiff front 95% stiff rear, when I'm just going to and from work I'm on full soft. I gotta buy myself a new shiftknob cause right now I have a ghetto-looking blob of epoxy instead of one...stupid leather wrap came off.

Oh no, saab shift knobs are the most expensive things in existance.
$50 for a leather shift knob isn't expensive....my Skunk2 knob on the honda was more than that....and I bought that back when they weren't as common as they are now
Raven18940
12-11-2007, 05:03 PM
Oh then they aren't so bad for the 93, but the 95 knobs are silly expensive.
They aren't the same part number??? I've never driven a M/T 9-5, but I thought they were the same part...

Lucky you...my finals are next week. How about somewhere around lunchtime next thursday? I'm usually in Bala Cynwyd, don't know how far from there you are...

It would depend on the day. Since I work at a dealership my schedule is different every day. Though I do have Wednesday's and Sunday's off and I don't go in til 3 on Friday's and Monday's I'm off at 4. So like I said it would depend on the day, but let me know cause I would definitely be down for a meet.
I'm thinking we should all just join in on the Thursday meet at Whitman Square if that's not too far...tell me your thoughts on this one..

Im down for Thursday. I have an '03 Cosmic Blue 9-5 Aero and a '91 Talladega Red 9000 Turbo. But which one to bring....
9-5 mods- Simmons catback, open element air intake, misc. cheap mods, '03 Sport seats (insert Ravens crying here)
9000 mods- Redline Tune by Swedish Dynamics (22psi), Koni Sports with B&G Springs (pretty low), Custom catback, SpeedParts Open Intake.
Looking forward to the mini saab meet.
I think you know the answer to your question :) Talladega is the one;)

'03 Sport seats (insert Ravens crying here)
I don't cry, I'm just plotting to steal them someday. :)
Seats....yea....I'm just going for some nice recaros... and I'll have them as soon as the airbag dilema is solved
Looks like the forecast for tomorrow no longer suggests rain...
Gentlemen, who is coming for sure?

ill be there, dirty car and all. hopefully the car will be running "right" tonight. I was the unfortunate victim of Boost Robbery last night. ( now raven thinks his car is faster)
blown coupler? Pin on the wastegate?
Raven18940
12-20-2007, 08:15 PM
Nah, his car just isn't as fast as he likes to think it is. ;)
I'll see you guys there.
No shift knob sucks....however having the boot off gave me ideas on how to make a better looking shifter... now I just need some scrap metal.
Anyone know of a place where I could work on my car for 3-4 weeks that isn't horribly expensive? I'd love a bay with a lift, but my emchanic recently hired help so now he doesn't let me use his third lift for extended periods of time....

Wow I haven't been on in a while. My 9-5 hasn't changed, it's just begging for a bath and for me to put the BBS's back on. It looks so plain with the Linear wheels on.
The autocross season is about to start again....which of you fine gentlemen would like to join me this season representing Saab?

You sure you're not confusing my Aero with someone else's, cause mine was never in the body shop.
Plus my car is here with me in Pittsburgh sleeping in my nice 2 car garage.
