Why do people feel the need to steal stuff from other people?

I will NEVER understand this. My stealth, that I inherited from my dad, was parked out back of the shop, the same spot that it's been in for the last 6 months. I check on it every time I'm outside, just to make sure everything is OK since there's been quite a few break-in's out back. So, Hans goes out to bring my stealth in because he's pulling the trans out and doing a few other things to it before christmas, and low and behold... Radio's gone, 6 disc in-dash changer, double din with a cassette player (my dad liked his books-on-tape), BRAND NEW S-AFC Neo, and electronic boost controller!!! :furious:

WHAT THE HELL?!! They were so kind as to unplug everything instead of cutting the wires... a real clean, take-your-time kind of job.

People disgust me. I had my laptop stolen a few months ago, with 4 years worth of family photos, pictures from college, etc. My entire life wrapped up in pictures... GONE. I couldn't care less about the computer... but I lost all of those memories. I had a few thousand pictures on that computer, makes me sick. :(

So if anyone is trying to pawn off a silver double din 6 disc radio, an s-afc neo, and an electronic boost controller... Let me know. I'll gladly hunt them down and smash in their knee-caps

ARGH!!

If it makes you feel better I lost a sweet head unit and a 7" flip screen dvd like 3 hours after I installed it

And my car was broken into infront of my house and had somethings stolen.

It sucks, I know the feeling.

Can't speak from personal experience, but..

A few weeks ago my sister took her brand new Sony Cyber-shot W80 to her high school and somebody stole it right out of her backpack. Since she is in advanced classes and only a few of her friends knew she had it, we think it was one of them. ****ty part is that we can't prove it.

If I ever find out who did it, God help them.

People used to hang for stealing horses. Stealing or breaking into a car is essentially the modern day equivalent, right?? HANG THE F'R!!

These bastards are pathetic. They don't want to work for ANYTHING, so it's "easier" to take from those who actually work hard and make a living. If they are caught, the hands they used to take your stuff should be smashed. Maybe you can roll over them when your tranny is back in the Stealth.

Stories like this are the reason I live in the sticks, have a car alarm with a 2way pager and don't really take the WRX anywhere I have to leave it unsupervised for long periods of time.
That sucks ballz.....sorry to hear about that :(

That sucks so bad.

It seems like stuff that's re-usable...but if I see anything for sale...you're the first to know!

Thanks Ray, but I'm just going to get another one. I just don't know if it's worth it to claim it on insurance... it's about $1000 worth of stuff, and my deductible is $500. Ugh, I dunno. :(

They break into the cars out back WAY too often. And it's getting worse. It's almost on a weekly basis now. We can't leave ANY cars with ANYTHING aftermarket in them outside anymore. It's turned into a buffet out there.

What do you guys suggest? Our neighbor had 2 pitbulls... we had no break in's when those dogs were there. They had to get rid of them though for insurance reasons... they couldn't get insurance on the shop with dogs out back. I want to get another dog for out back, and just finish fencing everything in back there so the dogs can't get out. They become a liability though, so I don't know if it's something we can do :( and it gets so cold... I feel bad leaving them outside at night :(

Only other thing I can think of, is spend the next week at the shop with a bunch of people (no one I can think of would be willing to do it...) and take turns keeping watch, until we find them... and ambush them. HAHAHA

Or install flood lights, motion sensors with alarms, and cameras. lol The expensive route.

What do you guys suggest? I'm sure some of you can be more creative. lol

I think cameras + lights with motion sensors are the way to go.

I had my mom's 3-month-old '07 tC get the whole passenger side keyed down to the metal outside of my dad's restaurant over in Horsham, right outside of the FRONT DOOR. First thing I asked, was if he had cameras. Nope.

I CAN NOT stand people who think it's their God-given right to **** around with other people's cars and/or steal stuff. #1 rule in Manlaw: You don't mess with another man's car. Not even as a joke.

The day I catch someone messing with my car, I'm going to be sitting in jail.

Girly VR-4
12-08-2007, 06:05 PM
You and me both

The only thing about cameras is... you still don't know who it is... "oh look... there's someone breaking into my car... oh look... there goes my radio..."

I'm all depressed about this... it SUCKS. The last thing I can afford right now, is replacing this stuff.

Maybe the motion sensor lights will be a deterrant? Or it'll just give them more light to work with

Is there any type of motion sensors that will page you? Kinda like car alarms?

If there was some type of motion sensor that turned on a flood light and a camera, and paged us, we could use that. have the video streaming online, and just log in and check....

We only live about a mile from the garage, so it's no problem to hop in the car and head right down the street!

Does anyone know if there's anything like this available in stores or online?

Actually, I was going to suggest a security system that pages you, but somehow it fell off my train of thought.

I'm sure they're out there.

The easiest thing, and maybe the cheapest, would have a couple friends of yours stay at the garage, and wait until someone else tries and does the same thing. then ambush them. get a couple people who have like paintball guns, and go out there, and if their doing anything, just shoot 'em. it may get the message through to some people..

As far as your security camera question....checkout http://www.x10.com/homepage.htm ....they got cameras there that do exactly what you're looking for and they're fairly reasonable.

But will that transmit up to a mile away through a forested area, and hills, etc?

*edit* nevermind, I read the bottom :D haha

But what about something that pages or alerts you when there's movement? If it had that, I'd buy it now.

I don't think there is something that matches your specification unless you are willing to pay monthly to something like ADT.

We're working on it. trying to find a good one that might actually do some good. We were talking about it last night with a few friends of ours, and his employees. Looking into something with an alarm when the motion sensor is triggered maybe. Not sure. We'll rig something up :(

Wish us luck! lol

I'm buying 2 rabid and starving raccoons, and rigging up a device that sprays the scent of rotting fish on anyone who walks into the rear of the garage, so they will attack you and gnaw at your ankles. SO BEWARE!!!

well... one employee suggested a lion or a bear, the other one suggested ninja's. HAHA

they know we want to get a better security system for outside, it's not like they'll have access to it at all though.

that's not what I meant...

employee's steal more than anyone else, and if its not them you never know who they had a conversation with where they mentioned such and such a car has been parked out back taking up space, or whatever.

Im willing to stay at the shop and catch some people im always down for that could be fun they probably come through the train tracks in the back motion lights or one of those driveway sensors that alert you when someone is comes into your driveway but that up in the back dont know how far they work though
