these come in and out of my work frequently, they aren't bad looking for a monster, but unneccessary if you ask me.

i cant see them being any more useful then pulling a race trailer. How many mpg?

There is no real use for these other then the base of a Flatbed or Peco truck, which they are usually used for. They make an XUV as well that looks like an expedition stretched over this frame.

Yeah, they're completely unneccessary for just about everyone who drives them. This is the first one I have ever seen on the road, it was just monsterous.

even seeing the bigger 450's is interesting. Its so unnecessary for a normal drive.

Looks like an f450 on steroids..stood next to one in person....WHY do they make these?? There is no use for them, and I am guessing they put out more emissions than all of TST

I dont know much about them but, I'm assuming they're Diesel, therefore the state doesn't give a **** how much emissions they put out.

But it's things like that that make me say " This is why the rest of the world hates us" It's just so excessive, it's obnoxious. The ONLY thing i could see that making any sense on is like a tow truck that pulls broken down semi's or something of that nature.

They're Diesel, and you need a class B (air brakes) license to drive it. Also, I totally agree with the obnoxious part, but what's not obnoxious these days. You've got 600hp daily drivers, '87 Chevy caprice's w/ 28" rims, s-10's on bags laying frame and tearing up roads, this is why the rest of the world hates us because we're free and f-in creative.

And the State does care how much emissions diesels do put out, however, they would ruin their emissions machines testing diesels.

Personally, I love diesels! Powerstroke, Cummins, Duramax, CAT, I love them all. I would love to buy an f-650 Supercruzer and slap a Prius eater sticker right on the bumper, I just don't have like $90,000 hahaha

DIESEL FTW

You only need a class B if it's over 26,001 pounds GVW. Air brakes have nothing to do with licensing.

new diesels arent emissions exempt anymore
my diesel car puts out half the emissions than any car on this site, and burns almost all its fuel in a cycle

but im no tree hugger

i agree that truck is a overkill, u can pull a race trailer with a f350 duallie, probaly just some insecure, small penis, millionaire.
probaly gets 5-8 mpg

Yea, Cummins, Cat, or Powerstroke.

Kinda funny that you can get a Cummins in it even though it's used in the Dodge Rams. :bigeek:

Thank god someone else caught that before I said something. Air brakes is a completely separate test to remove the restriction on the license.

yea theres alot of people thats got to much money and they just buy it to ride around in every day thats kinda stupid if i was gonna buy a new truck to ride around in everyday and a truck that could do what i wanted it to do i'd just buy a 2008 ford f250 turbo diesel but for people that hall and carry heavy stuff its worth it cause it has a 31.5 ton (63,000 lbs) towing capcity, and it dont use much gas like u think it would u would think it would be as much as a dump truck but i get 15 mpg, wich is pretty good to a dump truck that gets 10 mpg

These are basicley the equivalant to the GMC or chevy 4500. They make a work version that you usualy see with a flatbed or roll off on it than they have the luxury versions. There stright up pimp inside. leather interior premium sound woddgrain basicley like being in a big roomy limo. Thjere manily built to pull big horse trailer's race car trailers and big campers. There stright up power houses and from what i gather there deisel engine;s arnt to bad on the tank.

Its basicley a rig that you dont need a CDL for. frightliner makes a version of these to..

11-27-2010, 07:32 PM
you do need a cdl class b and an endorsement for air brakes because they got um, also if you get a cdl your going to be random drug tested so if anyone was considering one (lol) just watch for that.

And thats only if its for comerical use.. if its not you dont need a CDL for it.. we have RV's to thank for that.

Thats what most people dont know about cummins.. They are not dodge at all. thoes engines are made by a completley independent company from dodge. cummins also makes rig engines as well.

As long as its not being used for comerical/work use (basicley as long as your not making moeny off it) no you dont need a class B for it.

They're air assisted. Its not the same as straight up air brakes. I drive one for work everyday and no CDL. Just need a medical card..

You misunderstood them. They have to get randoms due to the policy of the company they work for, NOT to get a cdl.

I have had a class A cdl for damn near 4 years, and only was randomed by the company as per policy. Same with people who have been here for 30 years. My license is CDL:A TNP. That means any vehicle equipped with air brakes, double/triples, tankers and passengers. I dumped hazmat on the renewal because I didnt feel like taking the test again, or paying DHS for another fingerprinting and backround check. I figure if it was done once, why should I have to pay again?

Anyway, yeah. Anyone 18 or older can get a cdl with no worries. You just need the vehicle to test/practice in. Randoms depend on the company.

Guys, this thread was ressurected after 3 years, and these issues really are not pertinent to the thread. Let it go.

RIP, Ford F650 thread from 2007.
