What is your reason for driving?
Other reasons rather than transportation.
For me its a way to lose myself and relax. During the course of my day, I have a constant barrage of thoughts that go on in my head.
But if I get into the WRX and just start driving on my home course, so to speak, everything starts to become clearer and its easier to focus. And I dont have to think that much about driving because I've driven these roadways for so long that its become natural and has a claming effect.
Its sometimes hard to explain.
But this prolly just seems a bit silly to a few of you.

I drive because it's very relaxing. I race because I love the adrenaline rush.

I drive because sometimes it's the only thing that puts the baby to sleep. I take the DSM out only because I don't want the tires to get flat spotted, haha.
When I was younger I use to always have a reason. All those reasons are gone now. I'm at peace just staring at the car sitting in the driveway, haha.

I drive to get to work.
When I drive for fun anymore I feel like the guy in the cart picking up golf balls at a driving range, only with a line of cops aiming for me.

Great analogy! And it's so true for me. I forgot that was the other reason I don't like to take the DSM out anymore.
And truthfully, the DSM makes me drive it like I stole it because it hates to go slow and take turns nicely.
50% throttle is when things start to smooth out. Maybe it is time to get a new fuel computer, haha.

I drive around to hopefully find Sandra and stare......
Actually driving usually chills me out and lets me clear my head. But its ususally on a late night run and none of the midday traffic bull****.

i think the best drives are at 3-4am coming back from shore points, seeing the sun come up and no traffic is awesome.

I'm a complete romantic about my car (when it's working). The sound of it, the feel of the steering and shifter, it just feels right. Taking turns at high velocity (and not spinning out and crashing into a kiddie park), flying down straightaways at full throttle, braking hard...it just all feels so great. It can be relaxing or exciting. It's all in how hard you stab the throttle.
Ok, I think I'm going over to Nick's garage to screw my car now...

I used to drive for fun. Now its a work thing. I usually clock 40k a year on my work van alone. I would say I put around 12k on the Jeep last year. It isnt much fun any more.

I drive because it is on of the few things in life you are really in control of. It lets you make decisions way in advance, or spur of the moment. You decide how fast you go(usually) or if you want to enjoy the scenery.
I personally push myself and my car when I am out just driving. I will look for offramps, turns, bridges...stuff that lets me get a little closer to the edge than my normal 15 min commute in traffic would. It is therapy for me, no radio, just me, the car, and my thoughts. I can talk to myself because I am in MY world there. You don't know the guy next to you is looking at you funny if you don't even notice him.
Your mileage may vary.
