Well heres the story of my day off..

my daily driver is a 93 del sol with a d16z6.. cheap beater but whatever

it was long over due for an oil change and insted of doing it in the rain i took it to walmart on rt130 in hamilton...

after doing some shopping i came back to the bay and they said the oil change was done but they declined service after they did it..

Me: what do you mean it was declined?
douche: well your pan and bolt are stripped...
me:but you did the work anyway and then declined it
douche: yeah....
me:that makes no sense

so i kept on digging.. i told them walmart was the last one to change it 4 months ago and they said it wasnt damaged then so it had to have been damanged that day.. so they got me a manager.. well 4 managers....

2 hours later they took pictures gave me a free oil change and stealed it with a larger plug.. i will be contacted about where to take the car for the repair.....

i recieved a 25 dollar gift card.. free redbulls while i waited.. and the oil change was on them... and so will my next one since they have to change my pan

now here is where it gets better

3 years ago when i had my first car a saturn.. i took it there for a change... they didnt close my hood and i got it out on 130 and it flew up causing 5k in damage to the car...

walmart fixed it as well but gave me no compensation

when the insurance company calls me i will demand cash for myself or ill threaten to sue.. its amazing how stupid these people are.. this was obviously done by over tightening or putting the bolt in crooked.... i heard the employees say that this happens all the time and almost every day there is a damage claim to them

anyway theres most of the story but dont ever take your car there..

This is why no stealership or quick lube will ever touch my car for routine maintenance.

Not to make light of the situation, but do we really need to tell a forum of car enthusiasts to not take their car to WALMART for an oil change?

Seems like the LAST place on earth I would think of to take a vehicle for an oil change.

But hey...free stuff is free stuff right?

At the exxon that i work at, the owner got so fed up with register jockeys ****ing up oil changes, that he does them all himself.

Question? Why do you feel you deserve compensation? They put you back to even, actually, better then even. You got free red bulls, 2 free oil changes, $25 in gift cards and a new oil pan. Same goes for the hood popping up, they made you even.

Why do you think they should give you cash? Were you hurt or are you just greedy?

You will get no money from walmart besides what they have already offered you. This did not harm you in anyway, nor did it cause you to lose any business over it. They are fixing all problems and going beyond what most other shops would do (claim it was already damaged and leave it at that) I wouldn't waste my time nor money attempting a legal battle against them. They have plenty of money to drain your wallet in that field.

Walmart sounds like a pretty fair place. They did you right by fixing everything for you. When Honda cracked my headlight I had to fight them to get my money back, they finally caved when I contacted BBB. BMW has never done me wrong though so no complaints on them.

I got my tires changed at pepboys a year or two ago and when I got home they forgot to tighten my lug nuts and my wheel was almost falling off. I was so lucky it did not fall off. Since then I have done all my own work. I would not expect wallmart to be any better.

One time I found out that someone stripped a lugnut on the geo...and slowly over time the metal on the lugnut bonded to the bolt on the wheel hub(friction).

Just to play devil's advocate, while he may be up 2 oil changes and some cans of energy drink, the "new oil pan" thing is only necessary cause of the damage caused by the Walmart people, and he's also out:

1) the time taken to intially damage the car, speak with the managers, and work out a resolution for the problem

2) the time taken to bring the car BACK for the repairs when necessary

3) the time taken to smack himself in the face for TAKING HIS CAR TO WALMART FOR AN OIL CHANGE :bigeek:

never take your car to walmart for an oil change.
Thread title of the year nominee!
Also, never use a sock in the engine bay of a BMW to stop an oil leak
Never drive your car without oil in it.
And just for you Ray, never drive your WRX without the splashguard underneath.
LOL!
