I dont know if the mini works is still FWD but if it isnt, that would make the civic the only FWD car on the list...also, the other cars (mostly) are much faster, and the civic still made it better than the gallardo...I wonder if this is the Euro spec type-r or the JDM spec type-r....probbably euro. I cant wait to show my friends who are euro car fanatics they will **** themselves. I havent driven a type-r unfortunately, and I realize its fun and all, but I dont understand how it can be better than a gallardo...then again this is just according to one magazine, and I dont know what the ratings are based on. i couldnt find the article on the evo magazine website

Because you can buy a bunch of type r's for the price of a gallardo, I kinda don't think I'd do the list like that

Where is the Evo! I really can't see the 350Z making that list. My top 10 would have been alot different.

350Z deserves credit.. it is a very stout good priced sports car, even though it is a tad underpowered... the car handles on rails, and has great mod potential for the price of the car.

I would put the Z06 in 5th instead of the M3, then move everything down 1 slot, kicking the mini off that list. I mean come on? Even the WORKS mini only runs a 15.2 @ 96mph!
I would also remove the 350Z and replace it with the Ford GT.

Actually the JDM type-r did a lap at i believe suzuka circuit 2 seconds or so slower than the nsx...and look at the price of an nsx new (they dont even make em anymore but it was ~70k)

Yea....races are either won or lost in fractions of a second.
So 2 seconds is a considerable amount of time on the race track.
Oh and the NSX was over 10 seconds faster than the JDM EP3 CTR on Suzuka.
And that wasn't even the 3.2 liter NSX.

I’m not surprised the Civic Type R made the list because it’s a great car, gives you good thrills, and is relatively inexpensive to own. EVO magazine concentrates primarily on automobiles that convey the best “driving experience” and can range from the 20K area to the 100K range and beyond. Horsepower and ¼ mile numbers really aren’t at the top of the list. They’re big on the overall driving experience, driving dynamics, value, etc.
Keep in mind over in Europe, you can pay 8 or 9 bucks for fuel, so even an Evo or a 350Z can be even more expensive to own across the Atlantic. I know as of right now I’m not driving my Evo every day because of gas prices. A “fun” 1.6 or 1.8 sports car would be great to tout around town during the week. I think previous Type Rs have always made the list at one time or another.
Sometimes, the little guy is a good option.

Yea but im talking about the new type-r. Considering the NSX is a mid engined "supercar" and is RWD, having a 2 liter FWD civic come even 2 seconds close I think is pretty amazing..

we need more cow bells there is no such thing as to much cow bells.i have driven a real civic type r in a road course and as long you keep those revs up your in heaven.+1 for affordability compared to the other cars on the list.

The Civic is pretty quick and handles very well, however, 2 seconds may as well be 2 light years. That's still a long time.

What's funny is Top Gear ripped that new Type R to pieces, much prefering the previous one.

MMMMM I heart Lotus 2 Eleven...at least it beat out the Mini...though I'd imagine it would be a lot more fun to drive than a 350z. (Disclosure - I own a 350z - it's not THAT exciting to drive)

i guess that the OP list is only for cars from 2007?

Yeah, I saw that a few days ago. I was pretty surprised at how it performed (thought it would yield better numbers.)

Why? More weight + little to know power increase= changed characteristics.
I like the styling better, but I think it's a bit of a ball drop.

For Honda, I certainly wasn’t expecting them to go a step back in the suspension department. Although weight and power are big factors, the suspension is the main culprit on the track this time.
Example: The Evo X carries more weight, is a larger vehicle, and has roughly the same power as the IX, however, from all reports so far, it’s a faster car on the track. Engineers overcame the weight issues with better aerodynamics, better chassis rigidity, better weight distribution, etc, etc. I figured Honda would approach the new Civic with the same philosophy (they went for cost savings this time around.)
Still, I like the car non the less.

Yea but you're also missing the awd evolution (lol) in the evo versus the lack of drivetrain evo in the Honda..

Honda has their mind diverted elsewhere right now with all of the hydrogen/hybrid cars that are becoming the big talks in automotive industry right now. Don't expect their line of cars from here on out to be on the level that they used to be.
