if you want to find a job, do the work and earn it. if you want to sit on your ass and make another thread on tst and continue to not have a job, then carry on...

excuse me but you arent in my shoes, so you dont know what i did, dont just assume. i dont care if you are a mod or not, that was uncalled for. im applying at old navy as well as we speak, and my friend is in good with the managers there so he said he will try to get me in. the store is in North wales, I am in northeast philly...thats quite a drive for 9 an hour, so dont even try to say im lazy, or imply it.

applying online isnt a way to get a job..thats for lazy people. even if there was a way to apply for my company online id skip right over them to the people who came in person to fill out an application.

Most places now have internet only applying. You can apply in stores, but it won't make a difference whether you do it at home or not. It's easier to sort and track applicants this way, so most companies have taken it up.

Try Circuit City/Best buy yet? They are hiring like crazy for seasonal, the job isn't terrible either. Also, if you do a good job through the holiday season you will be switched to permanent.

Good luck dude.

yah, but none of them are gonna call you unless you get your ass into the store and say "hey! I put an application in! Are there any openings?"

I just call, and ask for a manager and tell them "hey my name is _______ _______ I put in an application on __/__/____, and am calling to see if it went through or not"

i know what you mean though..they think that if you dont have the followthrough to check on your app, you dont really want the job.

It doesn't really work that well with high volume sales stores anymore. They see so many employees go in and go out of those kinds of stores they're likely not to even remember the mature gesture.

I work for Circuit City, and I have had my fair share of time looking at applications and doing interviews. Honestly I'd much rather just give you a call and set up and interview than have to get pulled out of whatever I'm doing during the day to come talk to you in person unexpectedly.

Nail the interview, and you're in. ****, we hire just about anyone with a clean record for holidays, lol.

Montgomeryville, 4101.

Long story, but basically earlier this summer I was laid off. That's when I was doing the interviews and other ****, but Circuit had a huge reassembly and I got caught in a position that was deleted by the company. I just got back in today, so I won't be of that much help to you now besides a good word.

Zerioustt - I completely agree. I didn't say it was right, but that's just how the system works.

Maybe you can get on welfare lol.

Here's a good question, what's your level of eduction? Some times losing a job is a golden opportunity to realize you need to go back to school.

you're fluent in russian? Why the hell don't you go apply as a translator? TONS of companies are paying big bucks for people who are fluent in certain languages.

With the state of things with Russian and Iran go talk to the FBI or some other law enforcement agency.

Honestly, just hit the ground running....

As for the web application thing, yea, most companies are doing this now, due to cheaper costs, easier to organize, easier to send to other stores, yada yada yada....

Also, this time of year, most retail stores need people, but usually start canning people after the 1st of the year, when sales dip back down. I would suggest trying to work even as a lot attendant at a car dealership, but with your record (at least what was posted on here), that might prove to be difficult.

Cleanneon, best thing I can tell you is apply EVERYWHERE. Don't count out things just b/c you dont want to work there. If you really need the money, suck it up, and work. While you are working at crappy job, still look for better ones. This way, at least you have some sort of income, and that allows you to pick and choose a little bit more in the job market.
