What I need to know is what kind of oil the the Compressor takes and weather it is or is not compatible with other types of refrigerant oil...

this question is for the knowledged or GM go roos or anyone who can help...

thanks.

if you read the back of the compressor where the tag is stamped of the numbers and stuff then lookup the compressor they sometimes have the breakdowns of the vin codes on the back if thats what you want to call it and it will tell you the oil type and how much it takes. The only oils i have seen put in are pag or ester type oils. Good luck

and r12 is now illegal. you will have to find some one who can dispose of it PROPERLY.

Well since integra is wrong. R12 is NOT illegal. Its just being ruled out, Retrofitting with R134A is much cheaper anyhow. You need to pull vaccum down to atleast 29. Also when adding in the R134A add in ester oil.

But since the overall "pressures" are the same at any given temperature it is the best bet. However you can still find R12 around....just have to search

if its not illegal, then why cant you buy it anywhere????

edit: and if you can still buy it, show me any place that still sells it and i will end it right here.

...What part of its being ruled out didnt you understand. YOU cant just walk into anywhere and get R12..but if you wanna be a smart ass goto walmart and buy dust off in a can...thats R12...

You will more than likely only find R12 in a heating and air conditioning supply house. You cant just go into any store and buy it

oh well, in that case...i am bored here in my room. all i was sayin is that auto part stores don't sell r12 anymore and it would just be easier to retrofit it for r134a.
