Be warned, the vids are DARK, really bad actually. I was by myself, etc, etc...but mainly I wanted you all to be able to hear the engine. Hook up the good speakers and turn it up!

Hope you enjoy...it's been a looonngg project.

See ya at the track,

Hey guys...yup, the swap def isn't for everyone - but in a world of Supras with 3.4L swaps and 88mm turbos, I had to try and mix it up :D

BTW, the vids work for me...are you all doing a: right click, save as ? I just downloaded and played one....

Motor makes 2200-2300 @ 33-34psi @ the engine.

call me stupid but I got a few questions. First off, whats up w/ the crazy fuel tank set up? And also, whats with the 2 pipes running through the cabin?

those are his IC pipes it looks like which go to a Air/Water Intercooler... its definitely unique.

you probably know better than i do so i'm wondering... is there any benefit to ceramic coating or using a blanket or some sort on the exhaust side of the turbo, or any other insulation on the intercooler pipes, especially since they run right alongside each other?
also, is the length of the piping an issue?
and is this just a turbo setup or nitrous as well?

looks pretty nuts... when and where is the first track day?

2200-2300! wow.

Awesome, I love the air to water setup. The only thing I think I would worry about is the hotside to the turbo is so close to the water pump without any heat shielding. Even though the motor will be only running for a few seconds to a minute at a time how well does the electric pump hold up to the heat?

Edit: Just watched the vids. Sounds SICK!! How can you stand to stay in the garage with it idling. LoL.. I would've been cryin from the fumes. Definetly get some vids of it going down the track.

the pipes next to each other only have a delta of probably 50 degrees or so, so its not a very big deal and they appear to be steel, so they have a high thermal mass. Not worth trying to wrap, coat, or segregate.

The intercooler in the cabin is a long time domestic trick and the volume probably does affect boost latency but not when you only have 2 or 3 gears, a torque converter, and transbrake as it really just does not matter.

I'd like to know, without nitrous, how are you spooling 30+ psi out of a small block with a ~105mm+ turbo at 2300 rpm..

Hey guys...I think some of the folks answers questions:

Yeah, I could coat the exhaust side of the turbo, might be a winter project :) But no one ever does anything with the IC pipes (which are aluminum actually), no wrapping or coating the actual pipes.

If I really wanted to, I could ditch the passenger seat and knock alittle bit off the length of the pipes, but it's 6.2L motor, combined with the right converter, spooling the turbo and filling up all that volume isn't an issue.

SoStock - I think you misread. It's making 2200-2300hp @ 33-34psi but NOT, no where close to spooled at 2300rpm! :D

Jay,
I know you mainly went with this hybrid route since it's the right thing to do to protect our environment :-p

Very cool, I love it. I can't wait to hear and see it in person, especially blasting down the 1/4 mile. Are you considering taking it to the Texas meet?

PS: what are you doing to the hood to make it clear that stuff?

I was getting very excited, then I saw the V8 and I am no longer excited :(Ironically, at first I was like: "oh wow, yet another big single Toyota, big whoopie" but then I saw the small block with 12 bolt rear and was like   :supz:

In the immortal words of Jesse the mad scientist from a well known car film from a few years back: "small block Chevy no sh!t...this will decimate all, with a few parts overnighted from AMERICA"

wow, that things def. good for at least mid to low 13's

Kidding!!!...

Im also one to not be a fan of domestic swaps into an import. (Domestic guys imagine someone droping a b18c into a mustang even if it was built w/ more HP then stock 5.0.. its like sac-relidg) And others will say "well domestics they have more power... its cheaper/easier to get more power from them" True, but its not about money it costs with imports. its about the underdog fighting for the top and making it there in some cases!

But at the same time (like said above) the custom work, heart, and passion for motorsports is appreciated to the fullest!!!!!!!!

Sick car man... Prop's!

(wish i could get the vid to work hehe!)

This V8 motor is not your uncle's small block cheby. It's a 377" Brodix CNC'd aluminum Small Block with Brodix BD 2000 heads ...just like you'd find in any respectable Supra.

he said at the motor, so im assuming it was on an engine dyno at some point in its life. if not id also like to see some proof.

Most real drag cars will never see a chassis dyno in their life. You can calculate approx horsepower by using chassis weight and trap speeds.

It has to get tuned somehow. Whether it's an engine dyno or a chassis dyno, it's still going to see some kind of dyno.

I guess if you're going to build a drag car, you might as well do it right. Looks good.

So what's the suspension on there?

Hey guys! Wow, thanks for all the responses, good and bad, ha!

Nick - What, I gotta track you down over here for a reponse!? You're not that far, come on over to NJ sometime and check it out. I'm def taking it to the TX meet! As for the hood...I have a fiberglass hood that we're going to mod...somehow without making it look too "domestic".

LS1LT1 - thanks man, glad you like the mix :)

Tom - WTF..same goes for you! :D You're not that far, you're welcome to come over anytime. I'm trying to get a rental so I can master this beast with the guys that built and tuned it this month. I'm def looking for passes soon.

Rich, ha, thanks man! I'll keep you in mind, it's been waaay too long since you and I have hit the track together. Damn, I can't believe how long it's been since you opened that shop already!! :D

For everyone wondering about the dyno. Nope, it has never been on a chassis dyno, but I might just for fun. Honestly, the car, well motor was tuned at the track. Trust me, we're not guessing at the tune. Motor was built and tuned last year...and 204mph @ 3200lbs on 33-34psi.
