Hey guys so I'm bored at work so I figured I would make a journal as it seems as though it’s "the cool thing" to do LOL. Anyways I bought my car back in May. I was pretty much stock besides tint, K&N drop in and it was wingless. I traded in my 04 Nissan Frontier for it. I also bought an extended warranty on the car for 4 years as it was going to be my DD.

The first thing I did when I got the car was to trade the wheels for gold ones. The Sti had been my dream car for years since they first came out and
what really set them apart for me was the Blue/Gold combo. I found someone willing to trade and we went to sears to get our tires swapped onto the different rims. After that I wanted to modify the shifter as I did not like the way it looked. I put on a Sparco shift knob and boot that I had from my old eclipse. I "modified" the stock shifter by cutting various things so that the reverse lockout works by lifting up on the shift knob.

After the wheel swap.

Next up the stereo that was in the car blew. It had the 6 disc HU in it and the speakers were not very loud. When I cracked open the doors to my surprise there were some pretty decent Boston speakers. Anyways I decided to upgrade them anyways. I went with an FI Q 12” sub rated for 1100w rms , I amped it with a Rocksford BD1000.1 amp, It is in a ported box I had custom made for the specs of the sub. For the mids and highs I bought a pair of Rainbow SLC265’s and they are amped by a Kenwood KAC-7202 150w x2. All the power was handled by 1/0 gauge kicker wire + some miscellaneous stuff from Knu conceptz Big three was done and is running off stock battery and amp. I also upgraded the HU to a Kenwood DDX8019.

Next I did not like the look of the stock grill / headlights so one weekend I decided to modify them. I took the amber out of the headlight and painted the housings black. For the grill I cut out the center pillar. Overall I think it made the front of the car look much better.

Cleared Headlights FTW!

You are probably asking yourself, where are the performance parts? Well here we go. First I installed a K&N Typhoon SRI I don’t really think it did anything performance wise, but it make the car sounds a lot more badass. Next I installed a TurboXS catted TBE. The sound from it = sex it also gave a marginal increase in power. I love the sound so much that for awhile I had my radio off just so I could hear it. Anyways for now that about all that I have done. I just bought RCE yellows, a UTEC with Tuna Pro and a SSAC FMIC and I plan to go scoopless when I install it. I will update this journal as I do install more mods.

Here is a video of the exhaust in action.

I washed the car then it rained before I could take pictures which is why unfortunately its dirty. I was in Green Bay this weekend so I did not install anything and the car was in the shop getting some stuff fixed, but this weekend I am going to try to either install the utec or FMIC.

Need some suggestions where to shop for STI/WRX , and if used is worth it.

I got mine used, I traded in my truck and put money down, and I financed the rest. i went to a dealer so I got a warranty. Id say a used one is a good deal I saved about 13,000 off of retail (I paid about 20k for mine). No I did not get to have any fun. In the pic you can see the street is bare, It was like that all over around my area. I did however drive up the grass and tore it up a bit when I left instead of using the driveway.

The gauges are MADDAD ultras they are really nice with programmable warnings for all gauges. They are 66mm so they are nice big and easy to read. They can record for 50 seconds and they are controlled via a wireless remote. The a piller is nice because I am planning to put something where my clock pod is. They do not obstruct my view really at all.

02-20-2008, 12:27 PM
Alright well I figured I would post a small update. I just ordered a few things for the car including: tic's holy shift bushing set, cobb short shifter, redline shift and ebrake boot as well as whiteline steering bushings. When I install the bushings, since Im gonna have to jack the car up, I am gonna put the rce yellows on. I also just put some new rims, new steering wheel, and carbon fiber interior trim in the car. I will post some pics when everything is installed.

Alright well this weekend I had the car in the air to install the tic bushings and whiteline steering bushings and while it was jacked up I put my rce yellows in and 2 breaker bars later here I am with a nice lowered car with super awesome shifting and steering response. Anyone that has an 04 wrx or sti I really reccomned doing these bushings as they make the car feel so much more sporty.
