I would think side exhaust would be worse for a Trade in honestly. Most people probably wouldn't care if it came out the back like normal. You wouldn't happen to have the stock exhaust would ya.

Yep that would be better then side exhaust.

I vote you sell your exhaust setup for money and a trade for a stock setup, a dealer wants a car that is not modified. It should net you the best trade-in prices.

I don't have time for that, and due to how it's welded, that'd be nearly impossible. My dad thinks I should just take it in as is; if they take more than a grand off for it I'd be shocked, considering the condition, low miles, and the maintenance record of the car.

But...if you think putting the regular, sans mufflers, back on would be better, please allow me lol.

But the sell/swap is not an option right now, only what I have.

Just bring it in with the stock on, that way you can tell them that it has a stock exhaust.

they will prob ask ya where they are.. lol i bet they wont look to see the mufflers thou... i think ur good up until they get on it or something... if it sounds COMPLETELY louder than normal

Stock with no mufflers is definitely better than the side exit IMO. It will seem cleaner to the dealer.

Yea but the exhaust I have on now passes inspection...straight pipes dont. Maybe I should call a random dealer?

Neither. Most of the time it's getting wholesaled anyway, you can trade it in however you want and the idiot appraising it is going to give you what the book says. It's usually more beneficial to the original owner (person trading it in) to return it to stock configuration and make a little money selling the after market parts, since such additions don't add value at appraisal.

I just read the above post. They will try and deduct money if they see something which will not pass emissions/inspection.

If i remember correctly, your car is not hellaciously loud, so i don't think the dealer will notice much of anything. If you car looks real good, and doesn't rattle the windows when you roll up, sometimes they won't even test drive it, just let you trade it in.
BTW, why are you selling it?

Yes, it will be fine. You're not going to get any more or less money than your time is worth of taking the exhaust off. The guy looking your car over will run down a checklist, and possibly not even notice that it's got side exhaust (or notice that it's aftermarket), give you a number of what the trade-in value is, you'll laugh thinking he is joking, and than head back to the salesman to work on numbers since they just raped you on trade-in value. Some dealers give better deals on trade-ins though, while some REALLY rape you (West German BMW absolutely rapes trade in cars, as does R&S imports Mercedes).
